New Video 05/12/04

There were more wooden coaster shots in the original video, I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok, they've established that the game is pretty - now I was some info/video/insight on gameplay. Specifically building coasters.

That's what's really going to make or break this for me in the end. As long as it holds relatively true to the current UI and approach, then all should be fine.

I just don't want a pretty game that's dull or annoying to play. The beauty of the game now is the simplicity vs depth ratio. You can do a hell of a lot with the game, but it's easy as pie to use.

That's why I never got into No Limits. I didn't have to desire to tweak and retweak and retweak those damn curves for days. Then spend an equal amount of time on supports. In RCT you can easily 'one-off' a top notch ride in well under an hour. I'm hoping that still holds true.

I agree, it would be nice to have an easy coaster to build, although i'm a softy i would pay the price for the game...lol! :) *** Edited 5/14/2004 12:01:54 AM UTC by DC2Beltz3***
Lord Gonchar, I agree with you on the "easyness" of the game- it matters. I could never figure out No Limits. But, I can do Hyper Rails, but that's about the most complex I can get.

To me, it looks nice. I'm happy, as long as it's easy.

Is there going to be anymore coverage on RCT 3 at E3? Are we going to see more screenshots or are they already finished with the games E3 coverage?
I just hope the editor isn't all complex now. Looks great though. When does it come out?

Thanks,
DMC

For the truly geeky among us (and from the comments posted, I think that includes almost everyone ;) ) there is a slow motion version of the video available.

Basically someone took the time to run the original through an editor and slow it down so they could check out the details. Unfortunately they also added some REALLY lame music.

Slo-mo and super slo-mo versions of the newest video

Now who's going to sit in front of their PC on a Friday night and analyze this and come back with a blow by blow of what they found?

ooooooooo....

ooohhhh....ahhhhhh :) :) me want me want, lol!
Some premium site has posted pictures and a video of actual gameplay. They gave some pics and a very short clip away as a teaser.

The pics show the coaster editor and the video clip demonstrates how you can "move" inside the game.

If you click around a bit on the photo page, you can find some sketches which alledgedly are "case studies" of the peeps and personnel of RCT3.
Quite bizarre! It seems there will be line jumpers and people who will never ever get a chance to fit on an Intamin coaster!

You mean this...

It looks like the editor will be better, but it will have that isometric POV like they've had all the time before which should make it somewhat easy. I just wonder what they had at the E3, and if they actually showed gameplay, and not just teaser videos with a lot of quick-cuts.

^Yes, there are more pictures plus a short zipped video in the link which I posted above.

The video doesn´t exactly show gameplay, but it gives an impression how you navigate in the game. Its no edited promo.

Cool.

The video shows that the game will work pretty much as we all anticipated. No surprises there.

The screenshot DawgByte pointed to is of more interest to me. Looks like we get the 'classic' coaster building of the first RCT games. That makes me very happy.

Man... that background music on Atari's video is totally a ripoff of Republica's perfect techno-pop anthem "Ready To Go." They changed just enough notes so as not to have to pay royalties. Hmmph.

Anywho... the game itself really looks great. Much better than I expected. If they keep the interface as user-friendly (read: easy) as the originals, this should rocket off the shelves.

(Will the puke be in 3-D?)

Hi

Did you see on this image http://www.planet-rct.de/galerie/rct3/bilder/premiumgamestar_026.jpg OVERBANK TURNS!!!!!!

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.

It doen't look overbanked to me.

Look closer following the track from flat (entering the turn) to flat (exiting the turn) looks like the ame generic bank we've always had.

To my eyes at least...

Looks overbanked to me. I think that the lighted ride behind the top of the overbank might make it look like it's the old overbank.

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
While not exactly OVERbanked, it looks better than what we had in RCT2. Seems to be a perfect 90° banking.

Well the original one is clearly not overbanked after seeing the pics tricktrack linked to - those do seem to show a 90 degree bank.

Perhaps a 'standard' and 'steep' bank choices (two little leaning car buttons on each side of the building tool)?
