New Thunderhead Construction Update

That really looks nice. I love how the pathway winds through gardens and around theming before the hill to the coaster!

What's with DW's thumbnails? 175x117? Anyone else having trouble telling what some of the things are? :) Thank God for ACE's pics.

Is the trestle where they had to cut out a walking path?

^Yep, they obviously had to move quite a bit of dirt. Previously the train track set on the side of a hill, but it seems they cut out the entire hillside and built the bridge over it.

They've also re-profiled the land to where the slope is more gentle. It was VERY steep at that particular spot.

Wood Coaster Fan Club...coming to a park near you

Maybe I'm blind or just naive, but I don't see any upstops on the coaster cars. Are they put on after the train is loaded onto the tracks or am I just not seeing them? Thanks

I love the turn into the fly through. it's possibly the most beautiful part of the ride for me.

What the heck are those telephone poles? I can kind of see a connection in the theme, but what are they going to do with those, theming-wise?

If your talking about these, I think they are themed street lamp poles. They probably just have to put the lights on them and they'll be finished.

Although they might be telegraph poles to add to the 1880s atmosphere.
