I am getting really excited about riding it. I was blown away by Ozark Wildcat, and this looks to be just as good, with some terrain use. There was a reason that Ozark Wildcat was rated #9, and it looks to be included into Thunderhead also. Looks like Dollywood is going to have another hit!
GCI's Jeff Pike stopped by the S&D booth at PPP and we talked about Thunderhed. He said it would be their most photogenic coaster yet. Seeing the construction pics I don't doubt him. And rumor has it Thunderhead will be prominently featured in a 2005 coaster calendar ;)
Thunderhead is looking like a nice bigger brother to the Ozark Wildcat. I hear we can all thank the Oz Cat for bringing forth Thunderhead. I personally hope that GCII will be back in the Branson area in '05 or '06 to build a dueling/racing OzCat-Thunderhead-ish woodie in the Ozark mountains.

Well, don't know about that, but I think that Launched Hydro Coaster they mentioned in the polls sounds interesting.
Construction has begun on the station, and train transfer shed as well. It does appear that their on the final leg of major construction for the coaster itself. Just a few more sections of track left to complete. *** Edited 1/8/2004 10:04:22 PM UTC by Dukeis#1***
I think this has got to be the mostt complicated twisting piece of wooden coaster i have ever seen, It looks amazing, especially with all teh drops and curves, Jeff pike and chris gray were right, when i spoke to them that this would be there finest piece of work ever and by looking at the pictures, it is truly a a piece of artwork. I hope that this coaster will be a top 5 ride or maybe even # 1 this year for woodies.
Ok, maybe I'm just being jealous (and I'm really happy for DW to get this) -- but why the hell isn't this being built at SDC instead? I mean seriously! We have the terrain and everything to make a Kick @$$ woodie here in the Ozark Hills!!! WHY DON'T WE HAVE THIS THING??? ;) Ok sorry I just had to vent the frustration that we only have one GCII in the Branson area & by God we need more. Oh BTW Clair is by far one of the best host when it comes to on-sight construction tours.
DW has needed something more for a while now. Dollywood has 2 coasters 1 of which is some 30 years old and badly out of date-the other is just plain awesome-but for a park of over 2 million in attendence-more is needed. Which begs the question if DW beats SDC in attendence why is developement so slow at DW? SDC is just going to have to step aside for a while since ya'll have CC.
Not to mention were possibly the only non-Disney/Universal theme park that's over 110 acres with only two coasters. (But the quality and beauty of the park more than makes up for that!)
Hopefully Dollywood won't stop until they've took a huge chunk out of SFOG and Carowinds' attendance figures.
Although I do think SDC would be getting something by 2005. They wouldn't stop now when they are so close to becoming the top dog of the midwest. I believe their planning for something big, along with all the possibilities that CC holds. ;) *** Edited 1/10/2004 5:39:22 AM UTC by Dukeis#1***
