This coaster is looking more and more fun. Not only is there an indoor dark ride begining, but an inside overbanked turn back in the launch building!! Crazy.
Not sure why but the top hat looks ugly. But who the hell cares. The 1/2 twist down the top hat into the helix will be intense, the first camel does indeed look like airtime city.
Was blown away when i heard the ride goes back inside for the overbanked, and then outside again for the second camel hump, which is under the first.
This ride will kick arse. Most interesting rocket out there. I am begining to think so.
About time Australia had a world class coaster. *** Edited 9/1/2005 8:38:10 AM UTC by gyjdnb***
In fact the park is so small you can walk from the gate to the back in a few minutes, I think including pretty much everything there are only 10 rides there as well so this one will be welcome.
Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is a really great ride though, I probably prefered it to the Winjas pair at Phantasialand and Spinball Whizzer and Dragons Fury. The dark ride section at the start adds so much and the vertical lift is very cool.
Its a bit sad to say but Scooby Doo is probably the best coaster I rode whilst I was in Oz, by far better than any coaster at Dreamworld.
You get around. In a good sense :)
I agree scooby doo is the best 'coaster' here. That is how a mouse should be done. Although TOT is probably my favourite 'ride' here in aus. Not for long i imagine.
Movie world does certainly go for Quality over quantity, and this coaster looks like they have spent a lot of time and effort into the themeing. The dark ride begining is what is going to make this ride stand out like scooby.
As i know you are a pom (like me), dont you think Thorpe could have done more with their Rocket. WBMW seem to have got a lot out of their $12 million aussie dollars. All Thorpe have got is a top hat and a hump.

The problem with Thorpe is that the whole park dissapoints me in terms of the rides. I can't ride spin and spews because they make me well spew and the two big coasters just aren't that special. They had a pretty big budget for this coaster and could have something really decent but they decided to go the bigger is better approach.
The general public will lap it up, its by far the biggest thing there and it goes 80 mph but for me I've ridden xcellerator and its just not that special, well not worth the big queues its going to get.
From appearances this Oz coaster looks like its going to be a winner I just wish Alton or Thorpe had have gone with this instead.

That photo shows it diving back into the building
after the camelback.
Stealth's launch will be great (wont beat xcellerator) and it is tall, but meh thats it. Good thing i am in sydney, for the time being anyway.
Dan- it does look steep, which means the speed, going into the overbank will be high, and accentuated by the fact you are rushing through a small 'door'.
Will be interesting to see what they put inside the building with the overbank in. Big Lex luthor perhaps?? or the subway collapsing??
Great news for aussie coaster fans. plus Dreamworld will have to top it!!!! Or try anyway.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
Too bad the reliability will probably suck ;).
But dreamworld do tend to go in cycles. Thrill ride, familly, coaster. We have had the Claw (thrill) wiggles world (kiddie) and then the water park (familly) so a coaster is hopefully on the horizon. According to those in the know (from ozcoaster and roller-coaster.com.au), there is one coming.
Apollo andy- This is what we know. Inside dark section based around a subway station. launch to outside. Top hat. downward helix. Camel hump. Back inside. Overbanked turn. outside again. Camel hump under the first hump. does that make sense??
Thats all i know for now.
I could never love an Arrow!
The Batman ride is a simulator that isn't bad.
Superman is a non looping one.
Will be interesting to see what type of restraints they use. Over the shoulders, or lap bars. I pray for the latter, but i doubt it.
No-one seems to be putting this in the news section( well with photos anyway). So i will take it upon myself to show this fantastic looking ride to the masses, and as there is no other coaster being constructed in the world, we should all pay this one some attention!! Especially as it is going to be a world beater.
The guys from ozcoaster are doing a great job ( i think they work there) and these new pics show the wicked over banked curve (taken inside a building) and the up coming smaller camel hump.
I would like to see some pics of the helix which comes after the tophat, as i think this could be the most intense element of them all.
super.
