New ride(s) for michigans adventure?

crazy horse's avatar

Just got off the phone with someone at michigans adventure about a season pass question, and also asked if there was anything new this year. Her response was that "ride wise" there are a few things in the works.

Now this could mean anything from a kiddie ride or 2, to the long overdue trail to connect the park between timbers and wildcat.

I don't see anything major comming to the park this year, as they would have been working on it already. But, I can maybe see something major to be built for 2011 with construction starting this summer.

Any ideas?

The SLC wasn't big? And the rapids ride? Both of those seem pretty big to me.

Of course they would seem big to you. What are you, 5'6" in lifts? ;)

Saying you're in the loop without opening it is annoying.

God'll get you for that, Mike ;)

Then I proudly wear the "annoying" label : )

Am I to assume that if any of this is true that MA has been doing well business wise? Since Ive never been there idk how crowded the park can be or anything really except that ST is a great ride.

Was MA one of the parks CF was trying to get rid of?

The park has been doing really well the past few years. As a matter of fact, they broke attendance records last year.

The only parks I know of that cedarfair was trying to sell or dump was vallyfair, worlds of fun and great america in california.

The park can be crowded on hot days as the waterpark is the main draw right now. I have been there on some weekends where the ride side was packed as well as the waterpark.

I haven't been to the park in a while (pre SLC) but aren't the Timbers and Wildcat stations very close to each other? As I recall they needed a trail from Wildcat to that corner of the lake where I think they put the SLC and Grand Rapids. That would give them a complete circle around the lake. Or has that already been done?

I think if MA should get anything, it's time for a good flat. Maybe something like Maxair.

A quick look at the park map seems to indicate there is no path but there is a second train station by the rapids, thus allowing guests to board near Shivering Timbers and disembark on the other side of the park.

That is true, I rode the train departing from both stations last year. Nothing exciting though, if you're looking for a train ride filled with adventure.

I don't think it's supposed to be anything other than a relaxing train ride.

Well just comparing it to other parks, I meant there's not much scenery or anything exciting to look at.

However, it's relaxing :)

You know what I think would be neat? If some enterprising park had some sort of show while you were riding the train -- I don't know, like a Wild West shootout through which you happened to pass at just the right time (and apparently and unaccountably without being noticed by the participants in the gunfire.) Yes sir, something like that would make for some fine entertainment. Just sayin'.
