New ride for Camden Park in 2010

Not announced yet, but they mention a new "ride" on their website

Good to hear. I'll be there July 17th for a informal GOCC event.

Hmmm. Interesting.

A spinning mouse would fit really nicely in the big open lot where Skydiver currently sits, but I doubt the park would buy something that expensive. The sure could afford it though, at the prices that they charge for admission.

Since it will probably be used, the question becomes, what used ride on the market would be the best and most affordable fit for Camden? And since they are not making a big deal out of it, it will probably be specifically a used flat.

Man, I wish I had gotten down there while (Screamin) Demon was running.

^^They have a skydiver!?!

Camden is one of the parks I wanna get to *bad* that I haven't been to... (the 2 classic coasters).

Keep the skydiver please!

Lakemont park has a skydiver as well. The problem is that they will not let you ride alone. The cage you sit in, is smaller than a zipper cage.

Needless to say, after being stuffed insde a skydiver car at lakemont, my days of riding a skydiver are over(unless I can ride alone).

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

It's like you got inside my head, and typed what I would have typed, Crazy Horse.

My days of riding Skydiver are done. The cage is not comfortable for an averaged size adult. (Skydiver kind of makes me want to puke too.) :p

Demon, Camden Park is very unique. It's not a huge park, and what they offer is not all that special, but the old-fashioned atmosphere is pretty cool. I do think that they could do a little better with pricing, and prettying up the place a bit, but it's still a cool little park.

Look me up if you ever get out this way. I live about 45 minutes from the park; I kind of live 45 minutes from everything.

Ensign, that piece of crap looper nearly closed the park down, and was rarely open. As a kid, I dreamed about it every night when it was announced that the old Screamin Demon was being installed at Camden Park. These days, I would skip it.

Silverwood pitched their Skydiver as well....if you really flip them fast, they're not TOO uncomfortable...

Rather than lowering the price for admission, I'd rather they invest in maintenance and upkeep (Scrambler had one empty arm when we were there). The Hot Cat, Carousel, and the two classic coasters were worth the trip by themselves... :)

You make it sound as if their admission prices are too high.

Great, I move, and they put in that brand new Intamin Mega-Lite and all I get stuck with is B&Mtimidator.

LK, go after 5 pm, thats what I did :-). And I ate at Sheetz down the road. Mmmmm...Sheetz!

Edit: Is the skydiver ever even open?

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

^I got it on my one and only visit...

P.S. Never ride a Skydiver, or even a Roll-O-Plane, with AVMatt unless you really like him... ;)

It was operating during my only visit as well.

Didn't bother riding though...

When visiting Camden Park, a couple of tips--

1. Wear dark colors. Their maintenance people have grease guns and are not afraid to use them, so occasionally a spot gets somewhere you don't expect it.

2. DON'T MISS THE SPIDER! Camden's Spider may well be the #1 best running Spider in the country!

3. Even though the locomotive on the train leans to the right, it is not necessary for you to lean to the left.

4. The Whip is very much worth riding.

I'll second that! Long cycle and well-greased for maximum spinnage. I haven't laughed that hard in years :)

I got ultra sick on the spider as a kid. Couldn't bring myself to do it last August.

Loved the Whip, though! And some people (not I) count the haunted house as a coaster.

Camden has come a long way. It was actually very pleasant to visit.

I should have said that I live about 45 minutes from anything, Moosh.

Tek, I've only gone once before 5 in my adult years, and that was with my cousin and his grade school, along with really inexpensive tickets. (Oh yeah, and MMMmmm, Sheetz!)

I just visited the Camden Park web page, and it looks like they lowered their prices since last time I went. Last I remember, and if I recall correctly, they used to charge $25.99 for all day and $16.99 after 5pm. Right now, the prices listed on the website are $20.99 and $10.99. That's a little more reasonable.

The park isn't set up to handle crowds very well at all, so the high prices may have been a way to control that situation.

Their spider runs so well, that I puke every time I ride it. i quit that thing a long time ago.

And their Whip is fantastic. I grew up riding that whip, and every whip I have been on after simply does not compare to it.

Chain lift to the top and gravity does the rest. If the very slow Underground at Adventurland and and Blazing Fury at Dollywood can be considered coasters, then why not Camden's dark ride. Devil's Den at Conneaut is in the same boat.

I consider it a gravity-powered dark ride, simply because of the track and ride vehicle design.

The coasters that you mention, Hammond, use traditional coaster track, therefore, I consider then to be coasters.

Ut oh. Did anybody see where the lid to this can of worms I am holding fell to?

Mamoosh's avatar

Hey...if someone wants to pad their count by including Camden's dark ride that's fine ;)
