New Knott's Coaster to be a "bullet"...

According to papers filed in Orange County, Cedar Fair has applied for a variance, and it's for a "Impulse - Giga-Coaster", by requesting an addtional "three foot park variance" for the construction of two 300' twin towers in the "Northwest" corner of the property. As for noise, the following info was added "Linear Induction Motors, Solid "Box-Track", "covered station", "Other noises projected vertically in all directions due to seat orientation", "Horizontal Passes at High Speed", "Noise Levels comparable or less than that of "Supreme Scream" due to ride speed." Imagine the possibilities of a park that only needs a property line variance. This would mean they can build all they want to 300'. It looks like this is a S:UE copy, but to hit 300' they would probably have to cut out the twist. I don't think it could handle it. 300' would require about 95MPH to get up there. S:UE wobbles enough as it is. And if I'm not mistaken, it sounds like "Facing eachother cars".
Um, I don't know. First were talking about hypers and inverted coasters, now were talking Impulse? Especially when Knott's already has two shuttle coasters? I'd be shocked, and very disappointed if Knott's did this. How about a full curcuit, full capacity steel, non-gimmick coaster?

Ya can't always get what you want...

I don't understand how they can compare the sound of a Impulse or a Reverse Free fall coaster to Supreme Scream. Those two rides are very loud. To me, this really doesn't make much sense. SFMM has Superman:The Escape, and SFMW is building Vertical Velocity. How about some origninality!

Is there a possibilty that Knotts sent out two varience requests, one being bogus (this one) and another one for a hypercoaster, in a plan to keep the project under wraps?

X-Flight @SFWoA!
This flight won't be cancelled! *** This post was edited by Zero-G on 2/17/2001. ***
If I am not mistaken, isn't Supreme Scream over 300 feet? Sorry, but this 'rumor' sounds like a bunch of bull to me.

The only reason I cannot believe this is because they already have Montezooma's Revenge, which is so similar to this ride, they'd be crazy to add it.

Millennium is spelled with two N's ;)
From what I understand, Monte is on the chopping block, will be re-tracked and sent to Soak City in San Diego along with Boomerang over the course of the next few years. This part of a conversion plan of that area that will be a single fee park where the "hard rides" will open in late afternoon during summer months and remain open until midnight. The waterpark will then close around 7 PM. A quote from a conversation with Jack Falfas, "The next (Knott's) coaster will be from Intamin, however, we won't bring in a Hyper yet. Morgan is putting out some nice products and we wouldn't mind working with them". This could mean one of two things. 1. What I found out yesterday is a cover up for a Giga. 2. It's true. In either case, Monte and Boomer have been talked about in San Diego for some time. A hyper is a given at some point in time, and the Giga-Shuttle would be a suitable replacement for Monte. *** This post was edited by Skyboss01 on 2/17/2001. ***
The actual height is 297'. This only applies to the structure itself. Flag poles and signage are not included in that measurement. At least in Orang County.

I dont know where you are getting all this info, but it is wrong. Thrillride might get a kick out of it though. :)

Metrock. Can't tell ya, but I do know that some people are going to maintenance training at Intamin for a coaster and it involves LIMs.

I am not saying that Knotts wont get a LIM coaster from Intamin. After listening/talking to Jack at the solcace, I just dont think that Knotts next coaster will be an Impulse. Now, it could very well use LIM's. Lets see what develops.

As long as it kicks SFMMs butt, I'm all for it.

i have a lot of faith (from other forums)in metrock so im going with him on this one. I really believe that it will be an intamin hyper that is 270 feet. i was told this by a friend whos dad works their!
bryang, the ride could be of hyper height (that sounds weird), but it will not be what we like to call a 'hyper coaster'. While I have no idea what Knotts is getting, I know (from putting various knowledge & info together) that a hyper is not next on the list. Expect something new, something to make the mountain watch their back.

I don't think anybody has a clue as to what Knott's will do next. I have heard hyper, Impulse, inverted and S&S. How wrong can you be if you list the possibility of everything? I think I'll just wait for Knott's to tell me thank you very much.

Thank you Disney, thank you...
Oh, there are people that have an idea what Knotts will be getting. They just cant say anything.
