New Island for IOA?

Mamoosh? whats a organges? oooohhhhh an orangutang... anyway i am unsure whether IOA has much room for expansion, but if it does, then i feel that they'd build a new island with the main attraction being a Xcelerator type ride with smaller attractions around it, i don't know about the themeing, but like the rest of the park it will be top notch.

I don' t think that you guys are going to see IOA expand any more then what they are at now. They have purchased some 300 acres across the I-4 but the plans are calling for a big freaking hotel and a golf course to go along with it. Don't forget that Vivendi the company that owns Universal is also in a bunch of trouble for money and this is limiting the amount that the parks can do. The biggest concentration of work and improvements does need to be done at Studio's where there is no draw for someone who wants big thrills.....With the addition of The Mummy, Jimmy Nuetron and Shrek it's clear to see that they are focusing more attention to that side. I love both parks but would rather spend the day riding on the big rides so I go to IOA, about the only thing that I really enjoy is hitting MIB a couple of times. Hopefully IOA does decide to do something it would be nice....about the last insider scoop I had was during the IAAPA convention when I talked to some people from B&M who were walking about a JP Flyer but that is just a rumor and that is all......talk to you guys some time soon.

I think that JP Flyer rumor has been around since IoA first opened..... but it WOULD be nice.

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me an amusement park needs to add another ride because you've been on a few of their coasters many times? HA! Why don't you call up the PR and tell them that, maybe they'll relay it on to the park owners... ;)

If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.

I don't see how IOA would make another Island. First off, most of the islands there are seperated by some huge land feature. The only way I see them putting in something new is pinching it in between two of the current islands and winging it out from that point, but that doesn't sound like it would manage crowds that well.

The only other way would be getting rid of some of the current islands to make way for the new one, but then again that's wasted money. I really don't know though.

Why is it such a bad thing when you don't have to rush through a park like a bat out of hell for the whole day to ride all it has to offer. I would rather take my time and reride the best rides.
the thrill 2, when I say I can "do" that park in 6 hours I mean that I can do atleast everything once and quite a lot of re-rides on DD, Spiderman, and Hulk

The thing that I think makes IOA unique and very enjoyable is that fact that you can have a great time just walking around and looking at stuff. I could spend days (and have) just looking at all the detail on all theming. Not to mention DD and Hulk which are great great rides.

My shirt in my photo seems to be for "Aging Bull"

The other great thing about IOA is the fantastic adult beverages available inside the park They don't hold back on the liquor, that's for sure.

Where else can you get a frozen Jack & Coke?

During Halloween Horror Nights they were selling "Embalming Fluid" - these booths had longer waits than some of the rides and haunted houses. Not sure what was in them other than Bacardi Limon.

I still think they should add a B+M flyer to Jurassic Park if you look on mapquest they seem to have enough room behind the discovery center in that area of land that is open.It should be a grown up ptereanodon Flyers.

People who are asking for a B&M flyer are ignoring the fact that IOA tends to have completely unique attractions. What's going to be so different about any B&M flyer they could install? Also, they'd have to keep it under the tree line so as not to disturb the atmosphere of Jurassic Park.

IOA is doing better at it then when it opened, but they still need to consider installing a couple more high-capacity family rides. Perhaps some sort of additional dark ride (I know, the park has several) and perhaps a family coaster round the sixe of Thunder Mountain or something to that sort, built by Arrow.
I believe the comparisons of CP and IOA are comparing the QUALITY of experience. CP's only virture is the number of rides, as far as atmosphere goes, it rates low. IOA is the opposite, low number of rides by high quality atmoshpere.

Point is, for some of the people who posted above, the quality of experience at both parks are comparable. For some people, there is more to a day at a park than coaster count.

Cedar Point doesn't have atmosphere? Give me a break. It isn't trying to be a theme park. It is trying to be an amusement park and it has every bit the atmosphere of Coney Island.

As for IOA, everthing that is there is top notch but I do think it is a half day park still. That said, if you compare Disney's California Adventure to IOA, the Universal people stomped the Disney people to a pulp. That isn't easy for me to say but it is true.

IOA needs to expand and it will in time.

Of course, this ignores the notion that Islands of Adventure had a *budget* while California Adventure was built from the spare change and lint Michael Eisner found under his couch ;)

I'd say that CP's atmosphere is very different from Coney Island's. CP is a nice family place and regardless of count is the coaster capital of the world. Coney Island is a bit run down with a kind of grungy charm. It only had one operating adult coaster when I was there.

CP, IOA, Coney, DCA...why are you people comparing them? They each offer something unique and do it well, but it's still a case of "apples and oranges."

Actually, behind JP there really isn't that much room. There is a service road that runs back there, and then there's the sound barrier wall. Still possible, I guess, but not for a really tall coaster of any type. Anything that would go there would still have to be lower than 150 feet I'd say. You see, there is a high school (my old one) and several housing devepments on the other side of the road from the back of the park.

They constructed the barrier partially to cover the back of the park, but also to absorb some of the ride's noise despite the filled B&M track.

Again, there's a small amount of room back there, but not as much as you'd think.

How long is the wait time from this point?

It depends on how you look at it, 'Moosh.

Four destinations that have created a collection of coasters, rides and experiences in one place that people pay to enter and enjoy a day of fun.

In that sense it's apples and apples...and apples...and apples :)

If you're talking about who they're trying to bring in, what guests expect, etc then it may be apples and oranges.
