New HersheyPark Coaster for 2004

If it's an XLC I bet it will be purple
Okay I think I remember where this stems from. Okay I think it was one or two years ago that there were reports of Purple Track and Supports at the S&S plant for another XLC coaster of some kind. A few weeks later they went back and took photos of the track. I personally remember seeing the photos of the track and supports. The thing is it never was built. S&S never put up any purple coaster at all. A few days later the track was gone along with the supports. So its a mystery. Hey you know it would rock if thats what it turns out to be! But yeah thats where that statement came from if anyone was wondering. At least thats what I think Fury meant by it. PEACE!

Hmm. You started a post about it last season? You just joined in April, dude. You must have a short park season. I'm going to laugh hysterically in case you're wrong by the way...

If you look at the old topic in General Buzz, and what I posted in there you'll see that I have been a member since long before April of 2001. I had to open a new account due to switching internet service providers. My Coaster Fantom name is still the same. And that was a post from when? 2001?

Its not that I act like I know all or think I am some great insider at Hersheypark. I just know from past conversations, and putting 2 and 2 together. Its doesn't take inside source to know. I talked to a person from B&M that was surveying at the park. I know they were surveying because I watched them, and thats how I ended up striking up a conversation. I didn't ask for any of the details of what they were doing. We actually just talked about the Great Bear, and how much of a success that has been for the park.

How do you know they were from B&M? I don't think B&M would send people from Switzerland to survey. They are going to hire an outside company to do it for them. Just because the guy talked about Great Bear doesn't mean he's from B&M. Was the guy wearing a B&M shirt or hat? Did he show you his card? Did he directly say that he was from B&M? That guy could have been surveying for sewage pipes for their new bathroom for all you know. The only people that know about the ride right now are the manufacturers and the "big wigs" at Hershey Entertainment Co..

Be patient young Patawan and wait until they announce the new ride.

What makes it so hard to believe? I talked to a person from B&M. I knew that he was from B&M because he told me that he was. He was also wearing a blue button down shirt that said B&M on the pocket. That is how we got to talking about the Great Bear. Whats the big deal? It was a brief 2-3 minute conversation. He left with a few people in suits, and they walked down behind the Trailblazer. Given how long ago it was they'd have plenty of time to plan for a hyper.

On August 4th when they announce the new ride we'll just see who the manufacturer is.

Jeremy: I wasn't arguing the opinion that a B&M may be better suited to Hersheypark's crowd. I was just laughing that anyone would dare call B&M's hypercoasters "better" than Intamin's. Better suited to Hershey, maybe (an argument I'm not interested in) but certainly not better rides on the whole, at least in the minds of most people. Hope that's a bit clearer. :)

Aren't there a bunch of homes back behind the park? I recall waving at some folks while waiting for Roller Soaker last season.

These people were a-okay with the park building an enormous coaster in their front yard? Wow.

Hershey has given an incredible amount to the community...kinda a "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" type situation (Sandusky Higher ups should pay attention...lol)...But the people of Hershey are all gung ho about the company, so they usually back it in whatever it does...the park being one of the whatevers.

I wasn't doubting you, you just need to clearify. It seemed like you were making an assumption.

I get the Patriot News, and seen the article myself. I have tried searching the website for quite a while, and can't find the actual article. I am wondering why they don't have it on there. Do you think that its because Hersheypark doesn't want people to know about it until it is announced? It just seems funny to me that its not on their website.
I was out at Hersheypark yesterday and carefully looked around when walking through that area of the park, riding the train, on Trailblazer and the monorail. From this, I was able to roughly draw on my park map the current layout of the survey markings. I also got a few pictures from the Kissing Tower of that area. I put this stuff up at http://www.coasterdom.com/hp04 Personally, I'm now thinking rocket or thrust air coaster, because it seems like it would be a rather short hyper.

Webmaster,
http://www.dorneyonline.com

Now I want to go back, and look at the site. I am pretty sure that the area is much bigger than that. I thought that there were markings up past the Sidewinder into Midway America. I am really anxious for the announcement.
I don't want to speculate... and I am trying to not get my hopes up to later have them dashed. That being said... I am hoping for some type of B&M... either a hyper, Jr.Hyper (I never could understand how a 150ft+ coaster can be a Jr.anything... but that is a different rant for a different thread) or a floorless. Give me a more traditional design any day over these somewhat gimicky one trick ponies.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"
