I live 30 minutes from Hershey and hardly ever go there!
I'd rather go to Dorney/SFGA/SFA/CP etc!
I get a Dorney pass every year-But hardly ever get an HP pass!(maybe 2004?)
I'm just wondering, if it is a coaster, why not go for the tallest one in PA?

"Max height 195 ft"
There are many coasters that tall not just rocket coasters.
"Elevated ride up on columns for much of it"
That describes every steel coaster that I've seen built in the last ten years.
"There is a crest in the ride."
A rollercoaster wouldn't do much coasting if it didn't have a crest in the ride.
"Runs thousands of feet in a large loop. "
Well we know it won't be a shuttle.
"Crosses the Dry Gulch railroad in 2 places."
That doesn't say anything about who designed it or what it will be like.
"Comes close to the Kissing tower."
I don't know who said it goes around the Kissing tower, but this doesn't say that.
I'll wait for the official announcement or at least a track sighting before I begin to speculate.

Swoosh -- none of the articles available on their website were dated for Saturday.
Did you go to the actual Patriot-News page? I went to PennLive.COM which has the papers for that area and there were articles for the 12th on their - however there was not one about about HersheyPark filing for a building permit.

Yes, I did. I suppose they added the articles to the site over the course of yesterday. Still, I'm unable to find anything about Hersheypark in yesterday's paper. Oh, well.
3 years with librarians taught me how to find everything. It didn't teach me how to make it up when it doesn't yet exist.

Coastopher boldly replied:"i believe it is B&M hyper or intamin hyper or rocket, or SLC launch coaster."
SLC launch coaster? That just sounds painful... ;)

Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean I
I meant an intamin SLC that launches, like volcano TBC.
Well i think hershey park can afford a hyper coaster, that have a B&M already.
I cant believe that there was an article until i see it or until a coaster comes out with those specs at the park.
Do you have a scanner or anything or way you can show it to us?

If it is an Intamin Hyper, I will personally beat every Hersheypark Employee senseless with a stick. B&M Is much better than Intamin, especially their hypers..Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! That's the best joke I've heard all day!

Nate, you may laugh, and the original post may have been a bit overreaching, but if you've ever been to HersheyPark, I think you'd tend to agree that a B&M would be much better for their crowd than an Intamin Rocket. The *only* reason I could concieve for not getting a B&M hyper is the possible comparions with NITRO. But I personally think that NITRO is a coaster perfectly suited to HP.
And as for the price argument, let's not forget that they *do* have a B&M already and with the way Great Bear is shoe-horned in, I doubt construction costs were cheap. Moreover, those M-Flyer trains that came with Lightning Racer weren't found in the discount bin. :)

I am pretty sure that it will be a B&M. They were at the park last season surveying that area of the park. I had talked to one of them, and created a post about it last season. Everyone had acted like I was creating a rumor, but I know that they were there. Whether someone else won the bid over them remains to be seen. I am going with them though. In August we'll know for sure.
If you have been to the park recently you should have noticed all the markings on the ground throughout the park. You can pretty much tell the rides layout. I'd say the length will be about average. Some where around 5,500 ft. Looking at the markings it does seem as if it will be a pretty decent ride. I know the station will be around midway america and pioneer frontier, but the exact location remains a mystery to me. The 1st drop will be in the area of the trailblazer which leads me to believe that the drop height will be in the 210-220 ft range given the change in elevation from the lift area to where the bottom of the 1st drop will be.
Given the area that the coaster will be in I am guessing that it will be a pretty exciting layout. I have been looking forward to a hyper at Hershey for several seasons. Finally its going to happen.
(It's like Jeff always says. "Those who tell don't know and those who know don't tell.")

These people were a-okay with the park building an enormous coaster in their front yard? Wow.
