New Dollywood Survey-WOW!

The Saw Mill concept looks to be identical to The Barn that SDC runs at Smoky Mountains National Park -- only with rides in addition to the huge (and noisy) interactive play area.

Both of the towns and all four of the concepts look cool, even though the Davy Crockett ride feels too much like PKI's Tomb Raider in the concept of enclosing a spin-and-puke.

Ambitious all the way around. I guess maybe Dollywood in 2005 may be worth a visit if any of these things pan out.

I like "The Cave" idea, but I think the "Mystery Mine" would be more appropriate for the park at this point.

The "American Celebration" also looks sweet. :-)

I voted for the Mystery Mine because that just looks sweet. The Town Square looks too much like Disney.

Finally I'm not the only one that was thinking a mine themed wild mouse would be a great idea. I always thought it would be awsome for Knoebels since that entire area was huge into coal mining 100 years ago.

I'm for The Cave and Mystery Mine.

From what I hear Tomb Raider is an awsome themed ride so I'm sure the Disk-O would be just as cool with great big bears swiping their giant paws at you inside a cave.

The Davy Crockett(sp?) Disko thing does sound very neat. I think that a highly themed flat would fit in with the park's ride line-up nicely.

The American Celebration village looks like it would be a beautiful place to visit with great themeing surrounding the lake. It also says it would allow them to have a nighttime light show and that would be awesome for Dollywood.

I voted for the Saw Mill complex and the American Celebration because of the fountain show.
Did anybody notice, that survey describes the Mystery Mine Ride as a spinning coaster with a vertical drop? This could mean that they made a mistake or that the concept is indeed for a Maurer Xtreme coaster or a newly developed Gerstlauer car. Hmmmmm...?

I also noticed that the concept for the sawmill complex seems to incorporate one or two Disk-Os (look at what breaks through the walls on the left!)

It would be in 2006, if DW decided to do this. Note on the hyperlink, the 06 at the end. And it's true, SDC had an 05 on the last survey it had.

The Ozark Wildcat, voted #26 wood coaster, the higest rated new wooden coaster since 2001.
ROYALS!!!

The Mystery Mine is a lot like the ride concept Paramount was thinking about in their survey (Addams Family vertical drop roller coaster). Oh, and off the record TR:TR at PKI is one of the best THEMED rides ever, but it is one of the worst RIDES ever.
The "Town Square" screams Celebration City clone. Why would they want to do that?

I wouldn't be surprised is some of these ideas don't show up at SDC as well. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Ya know...they could add the word "Home" before it.

I'll bet they could get a good deal on the buildings from PGA too. ;)

^Nah. There not themed enough!

Not really anything to do with the survey, but the park's website now has a pretty neat interactive guide map.

I voted for the Mine shaft only because the idea of a spinning vertical drop coaster themed to a mine is AWESOME.

I really like the Saw Mill area though. Especially with that Huss Giant Frisbee.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
Yes, but I think that a ride sticking that far up into the air would ruin the "feel" that the park has going for it.

Id sacrifice realism and theming for some flats! DW lacks flats REALLY bad!

Pardon our dust...Signature is building for your future enjoyment!

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't say that Dollywood lacks flat rides any more than my corner grocery store lacks hardware or stationary items. They have them, but it is not their specialty. Dollywood, like BGW, and most Disney parks, is a true theme park, not an amusement park. Most true theme parks have a relatively small number of flat rides as compared to the other varied entertainment options they provide. I can get all the flat rides I want at many amusement parks, but I will take the theming and other entertainment of Dollywood, BG, and Disney any day without the flats. Like I said...just my perspective.
DW has no flats?! SDC had NO flats! Well, the merry-go-round and the baloon ride in Tom Sawyers Landing.... Am I missing any?

ROYALS!!!

Dollywood has an Eli Ferris Wheel, Tilt-a-Whirl, bumper cars, Yo-Yo, and a Chance carousel. They also have three kiddie rides, too, including a Convoy, Red Baron airplanes, and a circular car ride. Definitely light on the flat rides.
Eli Scrambler as well.

While I think some new flats would be nice, I'd much wrather the park stick to atmosphere if it comes down to it. We probably wouldn't evan have flat rides if the Magic World Theme Park hadn't been on the PF strip until 1995.

Though a Huss Frisbee certainly looks nice...
