New 4D in Japan under construction

Actually it looks like there are footers on both sides of the lifthill, which looks to be in line with the (I'm assuming) raven turn element that is being built. All of X's structure occurs on one side of its lift hill.

From what I remember S&S mentioned this at IAAPA in 2004, that they would be building a 4D in Japan and that it would feature a full - full, similar to X's half - half.

Regardless, I'm excited to see another one of these being built!

The mention of the 4D in Japan can be found in this IAAPA report:

"The rotation is produced by a mechnical system and controlled by the track. "Higher, faster and with more ride elements" is what Quin Checketts promises for the Japanese version."

Sounds good to me!

I can't wait to see the layout I bookmarked the site, Hopefully they'll update the page. Color scheme is way better than X!
for those who havnt seen it yet i uploaded the next lot the other day

Not much new but much better quality and gives more of a layout idea. its certainly not an X clone but its not far off by the looks of it.

Edit: i do apologise just noticed someone at freizeitpark nabbed them again before i could post here :) they are fast.

Anyway scroll down on the link above to see some layout guesses and X comparissons

Edit 2: forgot to upload this one

X Factor,

What were the bugs in the first one?

I never got to ride X. I was going to before I moved out of Cali but it's openning was delayed so I missed it and have not been back yet.

What were the bugs? Where to start! :)

After opening late, it ran for a few months and then was down the whole summer. It reopened and still experienced severe downtime, which it still fights with today. I believe it still has to be shut down all day every Wed. for work to be done.

On top of that, capacity is a huge issue. I hear it still runs around 400pph. That's about 1 third of what I think most parks would want as the bare minimum for a flagship ride.

400pph would be about right for Fuji-Q, though :)

(Actually, Fujiyama was a people mover, and Dodopa was launching very regularly. The park has some low-capacity rides, but the crews were definitely trying when we were there.)

I'm very happy to see another 4-D coaster. Hopefully this new brother and sister combo can now help each other. I know that S&S are still invovled in X's trains. I'll certainly be following this construction with much interest. *** Edited 1/22/2006 4:24:01 PM UTC by DWeaver***
LOL, Yes, my question now is, if it needs to be closed one day a week for maint, what work needs to be done to it once a week?

What are the actual bugs?

Since most asian parks are required a walking platform around the track layout, I wonder what we will see here...
I just got a reason to go to Japan. The trip would be a lot better if they would reopen Steel Dragon though.

Looking at the Raven turn, it's definitely smaller than the one on X.
So that means it either happens later in the ride.. or...
the ride is smaller than X (which I finde more probable).
On the other hand, I guess X's height would yield more momentum than is used during the ride installed at SFMM - so it probably could still be longer than X.

That clearly is not the case, considering the following list of B&Ms in Asia have no track platforms.

Jive2....SD2K isn't the greatest thing in the world. In fact, it wasn't my favorite ride at that park! Just go any way you can :)

I agree, judging from the footers and description, it looks and sounds very much like the Delirium layout minus the underground tunnel:

Luckily someone archived it from Arrow's old website:

Too bad it won't have a vertical drop :o(

^ I can see your point about the vertical drop "missing"...but I also tend to believe that that part of the ride was where the most *stress* was put on the ride vehicles....so losing the vertical drop MIGHT result in less wear-and-tear on trains and track...

Just a thought....then again, I have NO idea what other changes might have been made, so.... ;)

It will either feature the Delirium sequence or, as the pictures might suggest, an inverted lift which will lead directly into the half-loop drop.

wiki wiki wiki wiki...ahh shut up!
That loop looks big. That support structure and that odd not so curved piece at the very top of the loop looks as if that support structure is going to be the lift and dive into that loop. Should be interesting to see what they do.

Six Flags is a Diamond in the rough!
BTW, X is not closed once a week, that was the case the first year in the summer of 2002. Usually it is operating whenever the park is open

yeah, it's obviously not a 0-8-15 raven turn.
a surprise is about to happen with this layout.....
