Myrtle Beach Question?

O man that looks pretty small for a tower ride 85 feet.

I dont really know if it is really 40 feet. All I know is it is really small and not worth it.

It is like 50 feet or so I would say. It is just at a shopping area that is before Broadway at the Beach and Planet Hollywood, but after Briarcliffe Mall for some road marks. It is at the same place as Alligator Adventure and House of Blues which I think have some bill boards. It is hard to miss. The ride itself isn't amazing but you do grt a sort of weightless feeling at the top and I believe that it gives you two full launches. It is quite pricey though. Right next to the ride, there is also a simulator and a carousel(sp?). There is also a cool magic shop near these rides and lot of other shops. All these rides are across the body of water that separates the two halves of the center. Both Alligator Adventure and House of Blues are on the opposite side of the channel from the rides. Have fun! Myrtle Beach is classic tourist America. TIP: Count the number of Wings stores and such, you will get quite a high number in just seconds:)

Yeah there is tons of "Wings" and "Waves" stores at every corner! It's very odd. Other than Swamp Fox and Pistelero Roundup what else is worth doing at Family Kingdom?

A Chance Slingshot was put in @FK, wether or not it's open yet, don't know. Other than that, I never really ride spinners, et cetra, I have been on FK's Gravitron. Other than the rides & Swamp Fox, it's ALL atmosphere. They have a wheel & I just cannot remember the rest of thier rides. Ohhh! They have a strange little log flume. The first drop never has water in it & it's rather freaky the first time you ride. While at the Pavilion, the Catepillar is a fun one, IMO. It's about the only spinning thing that doesn't give me the fears.

As for the general tourist, Barefoot Landing & Broadway at the Beach, they're basically the same. All the same stores, everything just looks different. At Barefoot, there is HOB & all that stuff, there's where the differences come into play. Broadway is newer, larger, has things like Ripley's Aquarium & the IMAX. Other than different resteraunts, the differences really fail once you start looking around. I think everything was started by the same peeps running Pavilion, it's all one big monopoly around MB;).

There are many, many things to get into. We could go on & on, LOL. I don't do water slides, but there's Myrtle Waves, et cetra. Mini-golf to choke you, a few golf cart tracks which have decevingly fast looking karts, but the tracks are OK. I do reccomend checking/planning according to seeing a show at the HOB! It's a great venue to see a show in.

Don't forget about Bargain Beachwear. ;)

I am also going to add stuff to p_c_r's post. First off, yes the slingshot is open at Family Kingdom. I didn't ride it, but I guess you could give it a shot.

Last year when I went, there was a real cool magic show that my family and myself attended, if it is still there, I suggest you go to it.

Another thing not to miss. Legend's In Concert. Well worth it and a very, very realistic show. You shouldn't miss out on it, it's a real once in a lifetime experience.

Finally, with all the shopping destinations at Myrtle Beach, I suggest you don't go to the Waccamma Outlets. Its a complete waste of time. Now, the Myrtle Beach Outlets on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach is well worth it. Don't miss out.

Im going to the Pavillion next week. I go every year. Its a great park. Great atmosphere, clean, and good rides. Im a flat ride fanatic so i love all the rides at the Pavillion. I also hope to get to Family Kingdom for a few hours. I've never been there. Ill probably hit XLR8R to. If your coming from the south, is it before, or after Broadway at the Beach?

What is a chance sling shot and how big is it?

A Chance sling shot is basically a tower ride like S&S's ones. I saw it in person and it is decent looking at best. It is painted a disgusting shade of yellow and is super short, I'd say 80' at best, and its station is 10' off the ground. Maybe worth one ride.

Legend's In Concert, yes if you've got the time. I haven't seen one of these shows, but I've heard that it's TOP NOTCH. I saw one in the past, plus numerous "recreations of rock past" & I understand there's a part or two in thier show that is freaky. By freaky, I mean looking at the real things. I saw a Beatles show down there once, holy cow! I feel like I saw the Beatles!

Waccamma Outlets, yes, I've found outlet shopping as a whole fairly pointless. The shopping at Waccamma, even more useless. The name Waccamma has gone downhill over the tears. If you wear expensive named brand things, like 5th AVE & the such, Ralph Lauren, all that stuff, you get to save money outlet shopping for THAT stuff. I find those things way too expensive for my budget even at discounted rates, so outlet shopping for clothes is a waste. The Myrtle Outlets are way more worth it, & they're just down the street. Just shopping in general, around MB & I shouldn't let my small secret out, I'm a toy collector, & I always boost my collections over at Myrtle, LOL, especially Star Wars stuff, it's scalped much less from there.

From the South? Depends upon your route into the Grand Strand area. Starting from the north, you have North Myrtle GP, Barefoot Landing & other North Myrtle Beach things, then, you have the option to roll over on the bypass directly to Broadway. Staying on the King's Highway(17BUS) the Pavilion is "downtown" so to speak, with FK just to the south, & the MB Grand Prix furthest down at the end of the main strip. From Broadway, either main road on either side'll take you directly to the Pavilion or FK. Broadway is the most action furthest from the beach itself.

To drive from the NMBGP to the 1st MBGP is about 20-30 minutes or so. Drive too far in any direction & you'll enter nowhereland, LOL. BTW, on the way out of town, you can pay somewhat a visit by the old Magic Harbor, I think that's really just south of the main action.
Living in the NC beaches, we have nothing at all like Myrtle even in the least.......

cant wait
