My dream for PKI... what's your's?

I agree with everyone about getting a large steel coaster. Right now anything from Intamin or B&M would be nice for me. I have always wanted one or the other since i went to CP and fell in love with B&M. Then a few years later going back and riding MF I relized that a coaster like that would be nice. I think even a big steel coaster would improve the skyline a lot. I like the place you are talking about because that place has really been empty since they stopped using those cars and got rid of the dolphin stadium. I think another good place would be any where back in the woods and if it used the terrain it would be even better. One more thing, since it seems they have a good relationship with Huss I could still see another giant at PKI. I think a good place to out it would be where Flight Comander used to be and where euro bungee is now. That place is like perfect for a flat and to walk down coney mall and see a giant flat would be neat
Just an additional thought. Kings Island likes to build a lot of prototype rides (ie. vortex - first to go upside down, FoF - first launched type ride, SoB - first wood hyper, Drop Zone - first roto-drop in US, King Cobra - first stand-up in US,.......) my guess for any new type of coaster would be another new type of coaster. If B&M comes up with anything new I'm sure PKI would be the first to take a try with it.

First off Vortex wasn;t the first to go upside down beastFreak....

My dream...is an expedition GE-Force type Intamin Hyper either in the exact spot you mention shaggy, or out in the woods....heaven i tell ya...heavem

I dont think vortex was the first looper. I think PKI might have got that record with Screamin Demon. Vortex might have been the first 6 inversion coaster though

The cleveland browns suck, if its brown flush it down, Go Bengals!

I feel that B&M hypers lack airtime compared to the Intamin hypers. Also the intensity is just not there. Dont get me wrong I still find them fun, but I think other companies make better hypers. Also I dont really think its the layout, but those trains allow for no airtime.
I believe the first inverting steel coaster was The Great American Revolution at Magic Mountain back in 1977. Wood started looping long before that though. ;)
You're right, Vortex was the first to go upside down 6 times, just forgot that part
To clear the air on the looping coasters, here is a short list of important events. I believe the Flip-Flap opened circa 1895 (wooden looper) at Sea Lion Park in Coney Island, the Loop-the-Loop (flat steel [or some other metal...not sure what was available at the time]) opened in 1903 as an independent concession at Coney, the three Arrow corkscrews opened in 1975 and Schwarzkopf's Revolution, first loop in the US since the LtL, opened in 1976.

Oops, I opened my mouth too soon and screwed up. Prescott built the Loop-the-Loop for the 1901, not the 1903, season.

I would really like to see PKI add a B&M invert using the former dolphin stadium area behind International Showplace, the Rivertown pond, and into the old antique car ride. This way the path that leads from the Eiffel Tower towards Rivertown La Rosa's would offer guests a chance to "interact" with the ride. Imagine a train flying through the zero-G roll right over that midway or a flatspin directly over the pond with your feet doing a near miss splash. It wouldn't have to be big but it could pack serious punch.

Since there's the B&M invert, I would have to go with an Intamin hyper. Even though Millennium Force is a giga, I think the lift hill structure looks very sleek and is fascinating to see when the lights come on at night. I would like to see it on the Rivertown side of the park since the Coney Mal/Action Zone side has majority of the park's main coasters. It's time to even it out so to speak. Place it behind Tomb Raider, don't mess with the Beast, and have it head out towards White Water Canyon/WaterWorks.

And lastly, I hope they continue to add more flats. Not just the giant flats like the new Delirium, but also more family style flats like a Sea Storm, Music Express (which would look great on Coney Mall), Matterhorn/Alpine Bobs, etc.

I honestly would like to see all of the flats they have taken out come back (especially SkyLab) and bring in a nice B&M or Intamin hyper with lots of track near misses (or hits) with trees other parts of track and the lake, but be sure to put a net over the lake to stop the geese from coming up and creating another Fabio incedent.
Yes I would love to see the tumble bug and the whip make it back on the property. They are big family attractions. Maybe KI could do like Kennywood and create a classic ride section.

Wow. My dream for PKI? ready?

First off if I could go back into the past I'd wish for a few things to have changed. One thing would deffinately have to be that they would've taken a year or two and COMPLETELY redsigned The Bat so that it would run fine even today. Although I love Vortex and it's my favorite steel coaster, I'd rather have this and then a Loch Ness Monster looping coaster in place of Top Gun. Another thing I wish that would've happened would be to have kept King Cobra. That coaster had the most airtime I have ever experienced, and I'd never gotten bored with it.

Now for the future...... I'm gonna go with Koaster King. I'd love to have an Intiman coaster with the station where Days of Thunder is because that'd be minus one upcharge attraction. (did you know PKI has the most upcharge attractions in any park?!?!) Then have the lift go over Adventure Express and next to SoB. With the ride traveling back to then end of the racer, or possibly further. Depends on the height of it and that effects the speed.

Then another thing I'd love to see is the old Octoberfest and the Winter Ice Skating. Even though I went to each of those only once, I still loved it. Something they deffinately should've kept.

I'd also love to see The Racer, The Beast, and SoB all get new trains. I wish that The Racer and The Beast all could get their origonal trains back. No seat dividers, no head rests, etc. For SoB I'd like to see some more comfortable trains. More room please! I'd also like to see some tunnels on SoB and the brakes on The Beast removed. (Just reinforce the supports) If you've ever ridden it without the brakes, you know how insane it is. With them now, it's tame but is still fun.

Then in the future I'd like to see a B&M custom terrain Flyer in Rivertown. Flips over the tops of trees, sudden drops into ravigns(sp?) and close to the ground encounters. That'd be the TRUE flying experience. Give it some exotic birds name.

I'm sure I can think of millions of more, but that's all I can for now. If I get more I'll be sure to post em!

Two words:

Arrow Hyper

For those who didn't ever notice, all those "new brakes" on the Beast have always been there, they were just the press brakes from the old days and did little to slow the train down. (Or at least in the days when I have riden it) They just replaced them with the new fin brakes ever since they had the accident last year. Half the times I have riden it this year the brakes where turned off anyways. I still love it the way it is, brakes on or off, you never know what ride you will get.

I think B&M hypers are the worst. PKI should definetly go Intamin, even though Ohio is all Intamin.

I have to totally agree with Willy on this one. The B&M speed coasters do not offer the same thrills as the intamin or morgans. They are good but none are in my destination list to must ride again.

Chuck, who thinks even Millie out thrills the B&M's and I really other than first drop don't find Millie that thrilling.

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

Gee wizzz. I would never want something taller than the tree line to be built on the now closed auto ride spot. I will agree that doing this would destroy the great view of the tower from the front of the park. A nice little dueling Setpoint Swing Thing would be what I would build at that location. Also a few more flat rides lineing the side across from Vortex's boomerang turn.

But what I have wanted PKI to get for many years now is a Hyper or Giga. I would put it either near FOF or TR. I would want it to be similar to the Beast in that it would follow the terrain and travel through the trees. I think that a ride like this would fit in well with what the park already offers.

I would also like to see a compact B&M inverted resembling Talon at Dorney. I would try to fit it in somewhere in the Coney Island area, possibly behind Racers across from FOF.

I would like to state that whatever PKI builds in the future will only be icing on the already well rounded and complete cake.

BeastFreak, the new brakes on the Beast are magnetic brakes, not fin brakes. These replaced the skid brakes the ride used to have. The downside of this is that the magnetic brakes on the Beast cannot be turned off, so you'll never get a brakeless ride again.

But is it still that bad. I love it everytime I.
My dream is to see new flats put in coney mall. Traditional lap bars on racer. A normal PTC train on beast (everyone knows PKI keeps the lap bar REALLY low!). Adventure express to be rethemed and a loop added just for kicks.

Flats in rivertown. Thats a must. Redo the cars and put like 4-5 flat rides in there. Somthing like wicked Twister would be cool. King Cobra painted black put up behind TR:TR with new trains.

Be nice to ride op's. No matter how slow unfriendly and uncaring they may seem Most work hard to make your day great.

Hmmm, how much time do we have to state an answer?...

Anyway, I like this dream thing too. I agree with the non-looping hyper steel coaster like everyone else, but, I chose a different 'pond' for it to traverse. Ravenguy98 brought up the notion of 'gimmicks', and what would PKI's be. I feel if they go the hyper route, terrain is their gimmick. That's the one thing that PKI has in abundance; beautiful and varied terrain.

As for the pond I mention, it's the one over by WWCanyon. I like the notion of the hyper being in the woods (be it Intamin or B&M, I don't care) and careening through ravines. If I were to build it, the ride queue for WWC would be re-routed to follow the return trip side of the railroad tracks and then cut across the pond to where the 'queue bridge' is. This, in essence, frees up the entire stretch of land that the current WWC queue eats up.

Once this land is freed up, then I'd build the station here, and face the stationhouse away from the railroad bridge that goes over the main ravine (I'd have the last dip of the ride go under the bridge and up into the brake run). The start of the ride would leave the station and make a 45 degree left into the lift. The lift would go up and over WWC, and the rest of the ride would flow into the area that is the wooded section behind TRTR and in the area where the old west town of the railroad is. The queue for the coaster would be the area between TRTR and the Beast (the access road area), go behind TRTR (in that cleared area), bridge over the railroad track, and fill to the station house.

That's the coaster dream. As for the Rivertown pond, and the old-fashioned cars, I'd leave the pond alone. I'd put a flat ride where the dolphin stadium used to be, remove the one side of the old-fashioned cars that isn't running, move the one Rivertown games booth/arcade here and add more queue space to the Beast where it once stood. LaRosas stays where it is. This does one big thing, it increases the size of Rivertown effectively by a factor of two, and it makes use of a rather empty pathway to the Eiffel Tower.

To me, there's a lot of possibilities, but I think it all should focus on Rivertown at the moment, since work still needs to be done to it, IMO. The only reason I don't want to see a coaster go from the Rivertown pond to the woods is I think it would look tacky and distracting, rather than add mystery. I'm all for using that land, but just in another way.

Oh well, to quote Annie Lennox, 'Sweet dreams are made of this. Who am I to disagree?'
