My Career

There isnt just one type of engineer that designs a coaster. It's many people. A Mechanical Engineer designs the lifts and stations, a structural engineer designs the layout and the supports, and an electrical engineer designs all the computer interface involved in the running of the coaster, ie. brakes, block reading. Like so many other jobs creating a rollercoaster is done in teams and is a group effort. I myself am going to college next year as a mechanical engineering major, and I might possibly get a minor in structural engineering. I have thought it over and planned out what I am going to do. Many people dream of designing coasters, but very few actually get the chance. Hold on to those dreams while you can, they just might come true. And if they don't, have a contingency plan. dont think if something doesnt go your way that your lifes ruined. have a backup. You never know you might find you like something better than dsigning coasters. Like many people have said, it is a TON of work. Hours upon hours of calculations and planning. Make sure that is really what you want to do.

Try Calc 4 - for MechE or CivE you need calc 4 (diff-eq)

How true...I still have bad dreams about those fox/rat population models

*twitches at thought of population models ... *

Yea, whoever was the CivE major starting, definitely check into that masters thing, try and get on any teachers that are ASCE members to rally against it, cause getting a masters isnt the problem, its just their reasoning for it!

I don't know if I'm missing something, but what's so funny about American-based?

He's saying that just because in america it will be easily accesible. It's pretty broad. Kind of like asking someone the question "What's asia like?".

You hit the nail on the head Colonel. I'm don't know where it's based, I didn't find the right word. I meant easy acsessability.
