Music to Coaster/Park By

I was thinking of ordering the entire Time-Life Greatest Hits of the 70s collection.

It's totally relevant to the thread because the infomercial was co-hosted by Barry Williams (not the one who posts here occasionally), who as we all know played Greg Brady...

who on one episode went to Kings Island with his family... because his father was hired to design... um, something for the park. Because there were no architects to be found anywhere between Cincinatti and Southern California (where it never rains according to one of the many hits in the Time-Life Greatest Hits of the 70s collection).

LOL RGB...you post reminded me of this hi-larious SNL skit:

I don't know what kind of music matt likes, but I agree with him completely on his point. I can stand, and even enjoy, most of the classic stuff, but I really cannot stand any of the mainstream modern stuff, or indie stuff for that matter.

But that's fine because I know most of you wouldn't like my music.

So we'll just drive separately and I'll see you at the park. :)

Yeah is Good!
Thanks, Moosh. But somehow this was just as funny-- without trying to be. I mean a testimonial from some balding ex-jock that "Kung Fu Fighting" was one of the greatest songs ever? Yikes. But I admit, I could probably sing along with most of the songs in the collection.

Play that funky music, white boy!

Yea Fraggles! Frank better know how to play the theme song before I go see his band again!

Don't forget the Cocktail soundtrack, and Romy & Michele, Coyote Ugly, 30 Years of Seseme Street, and of course, Avenue Q. Usually I like soundtracks because they tend to be quite the mix.

-Nicole (Who never did get Moosh's soundtrack from last year, so you owe me! Maybe when I finally get to meet you this weekend).

LOL Nicole...I'll be there but I won't have any copies of Pilgrimage Vol 2 [or Volume 1]. Sorry ;)

Michelle, eh? Am I going to have to fix something you broke again, Matthew?

"LOL Nicole." ;)

Anybody else at CBuzz download music from here?

http://www.archive.org/audio/etreelisting-browse.php?collection=etree

It's a great resource for the type of music that I like. That along with the regular etree gives me all the live shows from my favorite bands that I could ever listen to.

Yeah is Good!
^If I knew specifically some of your favorite bands, I bet I could find some modern music you would really enjoy.

Thanks for the link too. I've never seen this before.

The only thing that is a tradition for me is when going to a six flags park, I MUST listen to "It's Just That Kind of Day" by the New Main Street Singers. We did it going in to SFMM and it stuck.

Otherwise, I let the iPod shuffle work its magic

"...Oh my God, it's a earthquake..."

I enjoy loads of stuff that is 'modern', i.e. being played by young bands. Problem is you won't ever hear it on the radio unless you have satellite radio and you listen to the jambands station.

Seeing live shows is a pashion of mine. I actually enjoy it more than coasters (ducks) and I attend concerts with a much greater frequency than amusement parks. Although I am giving up going to a great festival this weekend http://www.summercampfestival.com/ to give Voyage a visit.

That's the one thing that sucks most about my moving back to St. Louis. I was used to seeing plenty of shows in CO. and OR., but the hippie bands don't roll through StL with the frequency of those other states.

Note to self: don't bring 5-disc "Greatest Hits" collection from Yoko Ono if travelling with matt ;)

Honest to God I'd probably be able to take at least one disc, I promise! Hehe. As long as I don't have to suffer through any cawk rock afterwards!

I have the Time-Life Hits of the 70"s collection. It is well worth the money. It is strange the things that you will buy from an infomercial at 3 in the morning just after the last shot of vodka leaves the bottle. *** Edited 5/25/2006 4:57:15 PM UTC by Kraven the Raven***

I got Totally '80s, Awesome '80s and another set from one of those informercials. I think the package was called Remembering The '80s. :) *** Edited 5/25/2006 4:50:14 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

'80's music sucks. I think that is has something to do with the decline in drug use after the '60's and '70's, but then again, I'm not real clear on that. There are big parts of the '80's that I can't remember. Could have something to do with the vodka that I was drinking when I ordered the Time-Life Hit's of the '70's.

Oh man! i didn't think of "Thunder Kiss 65" ... someone mentioned the White Zombie track, and the lyrics instantly come to mind ... "I never try anything, I just do it" That is perfect for the rides!! :-) Thunder Kiss 65 is one of my all time classic faves ... That line in the song makes me think of the coasters and the rides.

What do you guys think about "Sad but True" by Metallica? Granted, I don't want to scare my fellow passengers too much ;-) LOL

Thank you for these great ideas !!!

It's going to be a workday that we go, and the song "Ponderous" comes to mind, by Two Nu ... "Shouldn't you be at work? ..."

How could I have forgotten about White Zombie? Thunderkiss and pretty much anything from Astrocreep 2000 would work fine!
