Multiple page threads...?

After I post to a multiple paged thread, I'm taken back to page 1 of that thread.

Is there any way to have the user automatically come back to the last possible page in the thread?

I ask because a long time ago, when someone would post a new thread, it took them into that thread, but you fixed it so they automatically were taken to the forums board.

I hope this made sense.

Actually, I don't understand what you're saying at all in that last sentence.

I remember a while ago when you tried to start a thread, that you weren't taken directly out to the forums like you do now.

Directly out to the forums? I'm still not clear on what you're talking about. When you start a thread, you go back to the topic list. It has always been that way.

Oh, I must be confusing this site with GTTP, sorry.

It's the same software! It has always been the same!

Having had it happen to me, I think I know what CPGenius is talking about.
If you look at the last page of a multi-page thread (say, "What do you do?" for instance), and you post a response to the end of that thread, you are taken to the first page of the thread. CPGenius is suggesting that it would make more sense to return to the page you were just looking at...or the page that was just called into being by the new post.

Personally, I think it would make more sense to dump right back out to the thread list. After all, unless two people are posting to the thread at the same time, it stands to reason that the poster ought to know what the thread says...it would actually make more sense to be dumped back out to the thread list.

Yeah, Rideman knows what I'm talking about. And the only reason I wouldn't want to be dumped out to the thread list is because I don't have cookies enabled, and if I messed up my e-mail adress or password, then it wouldn't get posted. But almost everyone on this site probably has them enabled, so I'm alone in my little dilemma.
On single-page threads, I like being taken back to the thread itself. That way, I can see any missed formatting marks or misspellings that the spell checker didn't pick up.

I get what you're saying, Dave, about the multi-page threads. That was kind of an oversight I'll correct in the next forum version.
