Mr. Freeze vs. Hypersonic XLC + LIM technology / i

You really can't compare H:XLC to anything else, because it is the first to use compressed air for the launch. Sure there are others that go up 90 degrees, etc., but not with compressed air. And I am pretty sure that 0 to 80 in 1.8 seconds can be claimed solely by H:XLC.

That is why there is a lot of hype about it....it IS something new. *** This post was edited by Lorrie on 5/31/2001. ***
Yeah. The second lims slow you down. but now much. Plus since the lims a horizontal and not on the vertical climb out the volcano. You pick up some speed. Yeah freeze boosts you some then slows you down(vertical). Same with Chiller(vertical). Speed the ride also also. horizontal boost. Volcano is complete circuit though. I am quite surpized no more full circuit lim inverted coasters have been built by intamin. I wish they are great. As for ta2k. You are right. Until fujiama 2 opens in japan(second ta2k) nothing ca compare. But hands down Xlc has the most intense launch in the USA.
Well, Mr. Freeze isn't the only Texas LIM. There is also the mangled, twisting, turning, inverting, diving, and very rough Poltergiest which doesn't go quite as fast and doesn't deliver the chilling thrills Mr. Freeze does, but does have the rapid acceleration and back to back inversions I love.

Damn you Rockem Sockem Robots, cant we all just get along??!!
I think the current Mr Freeze rides would be vastly improved with lap bars... Are you listening Six Flags? :)

Have you heard of a little boat called an aircraft carrier? They accelerate even faster than that. Same technology, so XLC is not solely claiming the 0-80 in 1.8.

Next up: Stupid human tricks! Followed by: Stupid pet tricks!
Why can that never happen?
Amen, TrBiggar! Most people will really start to appreciate Naval Aviators once they've ridden Hypersonic. Carriers can launch 48,000 pound planes from 0-165 mph in 2 seconds! That's more than double Hypersonic's acceleration. Pilots temporarily black out during a launch... that's why the initial 5 seconds after the launch is controlled by a computer. Pretty humbling, eh?

Isn't Mr. Freeze taller than XLC?

Technically, yes. But I suspect that the height for Mr. Freeze is for the vertical tower, not the tophat inversion...but I bet they are pretty close in that regard.
I was referring to H:XLC having the fastest launch in the coaster world since we were discussing coasters. Aircraft carriers are a whole new subject and of course you can't compare the speed of their launch to a roller coaster.
I know, Lorrie. I was just throwing that out so people would get an idea of what's possible with the given technology. Having just ridden Hypersonic a week ago, I don't know if any more acceleration would be wise anyway!
