Most Improved Ride of 2001

Ok, the coaster season has officially begun and most of the parks have now opened for the operating season, so a lot of you buzzers have had the chance to test the waters...

What one ride, in your opinion, has improved the greatest since the 2000 season?

I'm referring to a ride which just didn't perform well last year. It was rough, it was jerky, it was slow, it was ugly, or just plain boring...
And this year it's a whole new ride!
Easy, FOF at both PKI & PKD. The new restraints have converted it from pain to fun.
DUH! Texas Cyclone at SFAW!
Read the profile.

If FoF got that great of a makeover than why can't I?
the best one i have been on would have to be stealth i don't know what PGA did to it but its a lot better than last year.

are you ready to go vertical... v2... SFMW... 2001
Flight OF Fear DUH! *** This post was edited by Phaethon on 5/6/2001. ***
If it wasn't for the new restraints, i would say demon at six flags great america. It was a lot smoother. But the restraints are closer to your head and are harder so i banged my head a lot on the corkscrew.
Flight of Fear. What could be improved more than that?
This is speculation, but I'd be willing to bet that Psyclone at SFMM will be a ton better this year than in the past. Its entire drop, as well as significant portions of its track, was reprofiled. Considering how bad this ride was before, I'm sure we'll find it much improved from last season. *** This post was edited by biggs on 5/6/2001. ***
Heh... I'll be a lot of people will be voting for Steel Phantom whenever Phantom's Revenge opens. ;)

Please... We like reading spelled-out words and complete sentences here.

Thanks.

wow, I really don't think that last post was really necessary...I mean did your dog die last night or what?

Ghostrider = good
Sorry Matt no hard feelings I just could not resist
Hmm,
That kind of makes you wonder...

Is Phantom's Revenge a new coaster, or improved over the predecessor Steel Phantom?

I would say it's a completely new coaster, so that really can't count as improved!
Well, it's an improvement over Steel Phantom... I see your argument, and I guess that it can be viewed two ways. Anyway...

My slip-up in that post was just that: a slip-up. To quote the FAQ:

1. Spelling & Grammar usage:
There's a difference between a typo (which we all make) and chat shorthand ("r ne of u lamerz?").

I'll leave my mistake there, as it's a great example of that rule.

Fof an SOB at PKI have both been improved greatly since last year. Removing the over the shoulder restraint's was the best thing they ever done to that ride. I haven't figured exactly what they did to the SOB, but I rode it last year and just rode it today and i noticed a great change. THe whole ride is a lot more smoother than it was last year.
Also the chain hill seems a lot more smoother and not as loud as it was before. The hill is still loud but it is noticable quiter.
Viper at SFMM. It is SSSSOOOO smoth now!
I think PKI has the top 3... so far.
1)OLFOF-FOF(add the 3rd train)
2)SOB-better,smoother SOB(todays's ride was one of the best on any coaster ever for me)
3)KMLF-WTRA

We'll have to see about SP-PR. I'm sure it will be excellent, but a ride that goes from worst 5 to top 5 is more like Most Improved of the Century. It would be nice if they could improve another too(2). I wonder if Arrow has any extra track laying around, Peabody. ;)

Even though I never rode FoF before this year, I did ride it a week ago and it was a very good ride. From everything I'm hearing this ride is vastly improved over previous years.

I have to disagree with those who said SoB is improved. They added something under the floor and my legs were raised up and smashed into the lapbar. I was in pain before we hit the lift hill. Even my wife was uncomfortable and she's a lot smaller than I am. I was happy with the way it was last year and I'm very disappointed with the change.

Blue Streak at Cedar Point! Tasty new lap bars. (So I don't get out much)
