Most Impact/Influence for 2001

Couldn't Hypersonic be dubbed as the fastest acceleration rate on any coaster?

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
yes... the IOA peeps always talk about the hulk having more thrust then an F16

As for Talon, i am disappointed. It looks to be a virtual clone of greatbear, which is 1/2 hour away. Dorney park... the runt of cedar fair....
it will be another 5 before we get another coaster, and this is a real letdown...
I gotta say TA2K will have the biggest impact. To me it is the most exciting in terms of the future of rollercoasters.

I think the super invertigo in SFGAM and the B&M monster @ SFGA will be the 2 most incredible additions. Does anyone know how large the SFGA coaster will be...
The Hypersonic is only going to be that tall because they want airtime and speed to be maximized .
Hypersonic is a launch and a hill, that's it! The launch will be mindblowing, but the rest will be over so quickly you just might feel a little cheated after waiting 3 hours. I hardly call that revolutionary.

With that terrible capacity you literally WILL be waiting 3 hours for that ride. Well, PKD is not the most crowded park so maybe 2 hours.
yea, those launched/shuttles are hell on the throughput
The Hypersonic will probally also scare alot of people out of riding it , so the wait may not be more than two hours at first . Someone said somewhere here before that when you add a loop to a rollercoaster that you loose half the park's patrons that otherwise may have ridden it . Regular people might not want to be shot staight up then ride down an incline at 90 degrees . The TA2K seems to be designed especially for a certain audience .

A year later you are right
I thought it was fun to bring this back and compare it to this year.

I'm going to send this back to the top in case you missed it.
I think that Hypersonic will have the most impact. Remember, H:XLC is barely a prototype and the potential of this technology remains untapped.

I've heard that SFMM will have two new coasters for 2002 also.... they will be named X and Deja Vu(ha).

What's odd is that I don't seem to remember SFMM's Viper having much, if any, impact. *** This post was edited by PointMan on 7/20/2001. ***
I think I speak for most of us when I say that I hope the removal of the lap bars on Flight of Fear (FOF) has a huge impact on coaster building in the future. No more OTSRs!

Great topic,
I think one of the most influential rides of 2001 as every said was hypersonic. They only need to get compacity worked out and everthing like that. I say X will be a huge impact if it ever opens. I seen something about it on the t.v and i must say that it would scare the shizznit out of about any normal person.

Due to lack of publicity I think cornball express could have had a huge impact on the coaster world.
cornball really showed that for a rollercoaster to be great that it doesn't need to beat every record.

I think the question will be though what will have the most impact on 2002. I think it will be a huge year for the industry.

I agree with X and Hypersonic. They are the first and only of their kind to be built(in The U.S.) this year.Even though x isn't running yet,all of us wonder what kind of ride and experience it will give.I sit back and think about it,if they build an X closer to my house in the near future,it will be the first coaster i may need a dose of dramamine to ride.I am an admitting wimp when it comes to spinning rides!I get sick on spin and spews very easily :(

As far as X's influence on the coaster community, it's too early to tell. There's no way to tell what the impact will be until someone has ridden it.

Now that it's been mentioned, I agree, the removal of OTSRs on FOF may have some influence on the rest of the community. Already, another ride has removed it's OTSR. Let's hope this trend continues.

As far as Cornball Express's influence on the community, well there is none. CCI has made many great coasters that didn't break any records. Among the most mentioned ones are villian, Shivering Timbers, and Ghost Rider. Therefore, it can not be said that Cornball express will have any impact,

You think Dorney is the runt of cedar fair! Thats real funny. Wof has 3coasters(actually 5 but boomerang and crazy catepilar dont count IMO) and valley fair has like 6. Dorney is not the runt of Cedar Fair.
