Most expensive rollercoaster ?

Steel Dragon 2000 cost in excess of $50M. I think S:TE may have cost around that much with additional work.
Well if S:TE costs $20M to just build, then to date the costs must be quite a bit over $50M. After all if blows LSM and chips all the time, plus the electric bill form that machine is outrageous, but excluding electricity it definitely is over $50M!

Hulk ran somewhere around $50 million.

Rockin Roller Coaster ran somewhere around $65 million I believe.

Although not technically a coaster Test Track ran upwards of $120 million.

Tokyo DisneySea is building a $68 million coaster.

Hong Kong Disneyland is building a $100 million Space Mountain coaster.

Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom is estimated by Disney at $100+ million.

Although not a coaster, the Tokyo Disneyland Tower of Terror to open sometime 2005-2006 is costing $169 million.

DEJA VU!!!!! well over 75 million overall for one! That is what i have heard from ride ops at least.

You heard dead wrong, Vu was dirt cheap....
Superman: TE has cost sfMM over 100 million in maintnence and repairs. Also, I think the most expensive ride ever built would Tower of Terror soon to be finished at Cal. Adv. priced over 150 million (correct me if I'm wrong).

I thought it was "Waterworld" ;)

No, no. That was the most expensive bomb ever produced. The US Military airs that flick in overseas movie theaters, turning the population into mindless, drooling, catatonic zombies. They're easier to shock and awe that way.

What do I Listen-To?

I'm sure from a power standpoint, Hulk has to be one of the costliest endeavors, all of those wheels...holy crap!!

I play in a really awful garage band, but it's still fun.

So I take it that All the workers including Wintrode where wrong?? I dont think so phantom. He had told someone back in 2001 ( I overheard him when I worked there) That "This damn thing is gonna cost us over 60 mill just because theres a design flaw bleeping vekoma they should have made the towers 10 feet taller then maybe we wouldn't have this problem".

jf.....Waterworld doesn't count as a coaster, since it ONLY went *downhill*...(and I think it went faster than gravity too, hehe).

Counting Disney's *coasters* is kinda dicey, since most of the money there probably goes towards theming the *attraction*.

SD2K, clearly IMO, is the most expensive one-time investment in a coaster (i.e., structure) itself....

As for S:TE, *improvements* counted in with initial expenditure certainly raise the cost on that *coaster*...;). But the one ride I'd be interested in seeing an accurate accounting of initial cost PLUS "enhancements"...Sonny...

bill, wondering if Siebert would be willing to come up with some figures for us....;)

It seems today, that all you see, are violins in movies, and sax on TV....

I think that the most expensive roller coaster will be Disney's new Animal Kingdom roller coaster.
How much did DLP's Space Mountain costs?

Hey, I heard this guy named Lee say that he was gonna sue PKI for King Cobra, and that he was gonna put it up in Indiana, or North Carolina. Hey, He said it, so It MUST be true...;)

Moral to this post, Not everything you hear is true. Ride ops most certainly exaggerate.....

I have an informational packet from Vekoma, and the standard "Giant Inverted Boomerang" which has stated the same demographics as Deja Vu, only selling for a cost of $10.5 million.

And every problem with Déjà Vu is caused by Six Flags.

The most expensive 'coaster' is Steel Dragon, the most expensive 'themed coaster' is Space Mountain in Paris.

Oh, I already saw and touched a prototype car for Expedition Everest. :)

Roarrrr...

I'd would think that DL's Space Mtn. would now fit in there somewhere considering they will have built it twice. And that can't be cheap.

And I was also wondering if this will be a first for coasters. I can't recall any other ride that was completely rebuilt on the same site with the same layout. Has there ever been any?

What are you talking about? Does anyone else know? I'm confused...
