More Enthusiasstic Behavior

I have always thought that leather jackets would be better. Kinda like a biker gang sorta vibe.

Are we sure we are talking enthusiast here?

Chuck, who has been to the last three Beast last rides and never seen that behavior and expects it to be that way Sunday

Chuck,

As we were walking out of the park last year after the last of the season Beast rides, both myself and someone from park management heard 'somone' with a club shirt on say some rather uncalled comments as we were walking down International Street.

The reaction I heard from the park person I was walking out with was, "Do we have to open the gates again to this?" kind of in a joking manner, but I could tell he was not happy about what he had just heard. I wasn't happy either but let it go. It wasn't worth confronting him about.

Also, I think a few people in this thread are missing a point. Those that were saying they "deserved" the last ride were some of the ones that were complaning that they didn't get it. From what I saw at TTD, those that actually got the last ride of the night were quiet, didn't complain, and just watched the whole argument happen between those crybabies and ride opeators.

Now, would I personally been upset if say, a group of people with Coasterbuzz shirts came into the line behind me and got the last ride of the night.

Not at all. I could actually care less. More power to them.

However, if those same group of people came up to me in the station and said they were going to get the last ride of the night on the coaster and there was nothing I could do about it, then yes, I would have been angry. That's what happend and when they didn't get the last ride of the night, they threw a fit
although I doubt these people were a member of any club. I couldn't tell.

Yes, I was on the last train of the night on TTD. No one asked for that. We were told earlier where to be to witness something after the last ride returned. Had those people that were yelling at the ride operators been nice and asked to join the last train instead of demanding it, then they would have been included. However, since they threw a fit before they realized what was about to happen, the blew their chance.

There were so many empty seats available on the last train out that the park asked ride operators and security to fill up any available seats.

Before anyone gets nasty about the last ride on TTD and why the park did something special for someone regarding his rides on the coaster, this was MUCH MORE than getting 200 rides on the coaster this year. For anyone wanting to know the story behind that, just go read my trip report. I won't explain it here as this has gone long enough already.

-Sean

To be clear, I've got no issue with people who happen to ride on the last train of the night. I do take issue with people who either (a) believe they are "entitled" to it or (b) cause a ruckus when they don't get it.

In other words, you're only the messenger, and I knew that. :)

It's pretty sad how incredibly insane people get.

When the Rattler at SFFT [or just FT at the time] opened, I was a very young boy with my parents trying to get my first ride on the Rattler which just happened to be closing day. I was so scared to ride it and didn't want to until the park attendants started to walk to close the gate. My father and I started into the entrance when some 50ish looking guy [who happened to be wearing a famed roller coaster enthusiast organization shirt], shoved my dad and I out of the way to get in the entrance before the "last ride". If you've been there you know the entance is surrounded by giant limestone boulders. I fell backwards and hit my head on the boulders and suffered minor injuries. I was barely over 50" tall!

But as you can see, this "enthusiast" had no regard to anyone but himself. This is perfect example of those enthusiasts who think that they pretty much own the park.

If this is any of you I ask you to please consider everyone else around you. They are "guests" just like you. And if you're in that state of mind that you believe that you own the park, then you can just settle and wait to ride everything in the offseason.

Jeff, I was just about to suggest that you offer satin CoasterBuzz jackets. I guess that's out of the question now. ;)

Why not offer one that reads "Dumb Coaster Enthusiass"?

AR&R already has the best enthusiast clothing item ever made. It's hard to top that.

Ah, but only until this one hits the market.

I cannot believe that they did this! Those people ought to be ashamed. Shoot, they may as well raise heck because the ops forgot to roll out the red carpet as they approached the station...sheesh.

I say us enthusiasses should get together and open an all-enthusiass park!

Just think -- every train would be all big-boy seats; the park would close briefly after each ride so everyone could have the last ride of the night; and the ride-ops could personally perform whatever "favors" we so desperately need! Woo-hoo!

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

You should be able to film on every ride too, and then tell the park how they should run it and every other aspect of the place!

Couple of things.

1. I hate enthuiasts. They just don't get it do they? They should have no special treatment at all. That's just it.

2. After seeing the behavor of enthuiasts, I have renewed my ACE membership. Not worth it anymore if you have to hang around losers all the time. (I am talking about a seclected few- please don't be offended by this by all means.)

3. This behavior is just unexceptable. It makes the whole coaster-lover community look like I don't know. It's like soccer-moms fighting over the mini beanie babies at McDonalds.

4. WHO CARES ABOUT A LAST RIDE? Sorry to shout, but this is stupid.

Overall, enthuiasts just need to get a grip. Cool down. Take it easy. Pretty soon parks just won't want to have and enthuiast events, or even have them in their parks. I guess the Raven incident did not have an effect on some of you. If you want to have the things you most desperately want, you've got to respect others and park policys.

Thanks,

Kyle

I agree Den,why worry about trying to get the last"ride" of the season & just settle for the 2nd or 3rd to last train to go out?

Instead of making such an arguement about it & thus spoiling your last day in the park before the season comes to an end just be grateful that you are standing in line among those fourtunate enough to be given that last ride before the season is over with.

Sometimes the enthusiasts go & ruin what should be a day of fun for themselves & those around them by arguing over such trivial things like that,I'm suprised we don't hear about a majority of them fighting over trying to get the last train for the night during the early to mid part of the season.

Hey, my wife married me because I got the last ride on Raptor opening year.

Oh, wait, she married me because I am not a nerd. My mistake.

I'm guessing the enthusiass park will only have all you can eat food stands and gravy on everything.

Damn, just because my wife married me because I'm a nerd and because I like gravy all over everything doesn't mean that I'm an "enthusiass".

Stop it with the generalizations! ;)

I don't understand the whole "last ride" thing, either. Who cares? Is it any different than the next-to-last ride or the two-and-a half-hours-before-closing ride?

I have news for you, anyway. Anyone who thinks they got a last ride... you DIDN'T!

We industry people always get on last.

I remember when the Steel Phantom closed, there were all kind of people hootin' and hollerin' that they were last. Sorry. I rode it at least 10 times after we closed to all the rest of you.

---->Last Steel Phantom ride ever. No trims. Front seat.<------

No one else. HA! I WIN!

BTW, Jeff, the only problem with the 0.05% shirt is that it's way too big of a percentage. A park with 1,000,000 attendance I would doubt gets 50,000 enthusiasts. I bring this up only to further exemplify the minutia that are enthusiasts.

(I also got the last ride ever in my dad's 1985 Honda Accord before I totalled it in college. :) )

And that "Magnum Robert" kid in particular needs to be kicked in the enthusinuts, as should portions of the Magnum crew, who allowed him to come up the exit after they closed the queue.

Two or three trains before this happened I departed. There were a few supervisors of the double blue tag variety standing on the platform near the exit ramp and did not come down until well after the last train (I was waiting near the exit).

Ah yes, those on ride photos are so much worse then showing thousands of people on ride photos everyday on coasters where they were clearly taken illegally.

Although I totally agree with you, why add the whole thing about on-ride photos when you host onride photos from the same ride on gttp?
