More details on Phantom's Revenge

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

As yesterday's announcement of Kennywood's new coaster seemed vague, so do the words of park officials to the press. Kennywood's CEO Harry Henninger told the Post-Gazette that, "The dots do not connect yet." D.H. Morgan has been named as the manufacturer.

That story is here on the Post-Gazette.

The paper also has a report on fan reaction (which sadly makes no mention of the action here on CoasterBuzz). That story can also be found on the paper's site, and includes information on a simulator ride at a science center.

Currently the second drop of the Steel Phantom is 225 feet. Plans for the new Phantom's revenge is to extend the height to 230 feet. I think the extension is going to be at the bottom though. So yes, it'll be a big drop (still).

Hey everyone, I'm all for Phantom's Revenge, I think it'll be so much better then the original, and hey everyone should know by now that the info they released is just a teaser, and prolly isn't going to be exactly the same thing at the end.

Henninger said at the press conference...

"You know the old phrase, 'Why lower the river when you can raise the bridge', well, we're lowering the river. We're going to be digging out at the bottom of the ravine to add the extra five feet."

So judging by those comments, they will be adding the track at the bottom instead of the top.

I think the info they gave is a teaser, yes, but I really think that Public Relations got ahead of the actual management of the park by saying there'd be a press conference, even though they didn't have exact plans yet.

But then again!

Maybe they do have the exact plans, and really this is all part of the huge mind game Kennywood's playing with us to get us excited and wondering what's really going to happen, and then in January they'll stun the world with something that nobody expected.

Maybe this is a delusion of grandeur, but then again, maybe something really will come out and stun everybody.

Regardless, I'm excited and think the whole shebang is great!

How dare you vanquish the Steel Phantom without his consent? Fear the Phantom's Revenge.
Now we're getting the right idea. Why don't we all stop bashing Kennywood for ten seconds and wait to see what happens. It's easy to get excited or frustrated because what you thought was going to happen didn't, but let's not attack the park! For once, this landlocked park has a chance to really make a stand in the coaster world and the management has endless possiblities of scrapping or partially scrapping the idea. give them time. Kennywood likes to be last minute. I'm ready for anything the park has in store, and I'll never criticize something unless it's built and I've ridden on it. Uncontrolled anger shut down the forum at KPU, isn't that enough to settle some people down?

Phantom's Revenge:
The Legend Lives On

They said for keeping parts of the track they can save up to 70%. So i don't see why they don't take the save 70% and make the coaster huge. Don't get me wrong i'm all for the Revenge, but they could make a monster.

Remember the Steel Phantom will always be with you.
I agree that it will be a great ride, but I'm also tired of the people who are putting it down because it's not a record breaker. Is S:RoS a record breaker? No. Great ride? Yes. So, what does a record matter anyway?
ok heres what i say the ride should be big and fast but if its not hopefully it will be goood and is everyone sure they are keeping the track who knows cuz i wanan no im goin to kenntwood monday ill ask employees then
It could still be 300ft.
