Moldy rooms at Breakers?

Kinda mirrors the decline of Six Flags. 2003 was my last visit to SFA.

Last time we stayed was 2003... The old setion was a nice 'trick' to doing on property on the cheap and as a result we haven't stayed on property since then as much as we used to before that.

Wait... did you not stay in Lighthouse Point in 2006?

Yes. But we've stayed off property three times since.

Do I just have a bad way of wording things?

Prior to our crappy 2003 stay we usually stayed on property. 5 of 6 visits if my memory serves me (including the crappy visit) and 3 of them in the old section. That would be from 1995-2003.

Since then we stay on property a lot less. In fact, that one Lighthouse Point visit was it. So 1-out-of-4 since that crappy 2003 stay and never again have we even considered the old section. That would cover 2004-today.

We haven't stayed on property as much since our crappy room experience in 2003 as we did prior to that experience.

I just want to go on record that his rooms were clean for his visits prior to '98...when I was there.

There really is no excuse for mold because the rooms are supposedly being cleaned every day. But, Bon Air in particular is susceptible just because of the old construction and the moisture that gets in there. Housekeeping should be on top of that but it does get missed at times. For what it is worth, I've found mold in showers in much nicer establishments than Breakers.

Oh, stuff definitely happens - (remember, I'm the other hotel person here...by marriage) - and touristy properties tend to be worse, but it's not hard to sort out a simple oversight vs a larger trend.

Over the years you could definitely see a downward trend (and yes, after '98 :) ). The last visit we had family with us and had two rooms. Both were bad. Really felt like it was an indicator of the larger picture.

And mold in showers is a serious eww. Takes minimal cleaning to avoid mold. If mold is growing...well, do the math.

Given the revamp, I'm disappointed I didn't reserve a Bon Air room for opening weekend. They were pretty cheap (around $150 for two days) but I waited too long and they're all booked up. :(

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
