Midwest Coaster Central posts pics of 2003 Cedar Point construction

The layout of Cedar Point's 2003 mystery machine becomes a little clearer after checking out what was done below the tree line. Supports have been added that seem to indicate a launch, tophat, brake sequence.

I just about pissed my pants when I saw all the track that's left to be placed on Cedar Point's new coaster project. Sure, the launch and return sections will take up a lot of that, but still, the thing looks gargantuan, doesn't it?

What a great four years for Cedar Point (heck, what a decade for Cedar Point....)!

This is why I think there will be more to this ride than just a tophat.

1)Seeing the amount of land that has been cleared, it is obvious there will be more to this ride.

2)If you pay close attention to the photos that show the row of shorter supports (for the launch) & the taller supports (for the brake run?) with the tower in the rear, you can see the width of the tower & the amount of space between these 2 rows of supports are not equal. Meaning the tower is not as wide as the distance between these rows of supports.

3)The taller supports are too high for the track on the left side to connect with them at a safe level for riders. Not to mention how close they are to the pullout.

4)There have been more footers photographed that are not in the direct path of these 2 rows of supports, not counting the ones for the station.

5)Construction has begun on Millennium Island according to the most recent photos.

6)It is Cedar Point-style to do something amazing, not just in height & speed, but in all-around ride experience!!!!

Those who go to the park the next few weeks ride millenium and take a look down in the pretzel, you should see about 8 or so piles of dirt and some backhoe's, the ride is going to longer than just a shoot and top hat, etc. If you go back by the bridge by mine ride you might get a better view. Also thers a heck of alot of track left and in pieces that I think wont fit in the supports already up.

"CP the number one and only rocking roller coast!"

Steel #1 Raptor #2 MF #3 Nemisis

Wood #1 Beast #2 Shivering Timbers #3 Gemini

Birthplace = Sandusky, Ohio Thats right!

This is where I'm completely befuddled and beside myself.

a) Sir Willow, where did I say that "when CP builds a good woody, then they'll be a great park." I don't think the word, "park" entered my post. Again, when people twist and turn your words on this site, it's like pouring a bottle of pure alcohol on road rash. When I said, "get a good woodie to the collection," it was something that most of us have said historically on this site, not that CP is a bad or good park because of it. Blue Streak IS a classic and ran very well this season, but I don't enjoy driving to Cincy, Muskegon, P-Burgh or WoA to ride a better woodie.

b) Note to self: Stay on Topic! With all of the land cleared next to Iron Dragon and along the pathway, this will not be just a Top Hat and brakes. When I saw the clearing along the water, this ride, IMO, will be longer than it's father. Heck, it doesn't matter, we will all ride it, scream our buns off and love every second. THEN, half of us will complain about length because we all need that adrenaline high to last for 3 minutes instead of one. Our rush, or addiction, is like any other drug, we need more to continue the high.

c) Just someone find out a date for announcement, I have to stop checking the web cam everyday at school, it's driving me crazy!! **one excited fool**

There's nothing like a woodie...

CP builds "just an impulse" and people are whining all season long. For cryin out loud a possible 400'+ coaster is coming and your still crying!

CP can build a 700 footer in 10 years and that probably won't be good enough for some of you either!

This is roller coaster website, not English 101! If I axidently misspell something, do me a favor and deal with it, I've been out of skool for a long time! :)
