Michigan Adventure - 8/19

Associated parks:
None

Went with my brother to Michigan adventure saturday for a dose of ST. Overall I liked how clean the park was, but the ride ops good grief, on ST with 2 train operation at least half the time stacking happened with a 2-4 minute delay. Not sure how hard it is to make sure the lap bars are secure??? Anyway...

ST. Slightly disappointed with the back I expected more airtime and a better ride. (for a CCI) All air in the back comes on the drops of the hills. I then quickly reaffirmed my love for CCI with a front row ride. WOW!!!!WOW!!!! A great view. (I love how long this coaster is) gentle floating airtime on all hills pretty darn similar to MF. Except you get more. I really don't know how CCI does it but they are the woodie leaders. If you go make sure you ride the front seat. That is the spot.

Mad mouse. A smooth arrow (that is rare) I liked the g's on the turns up top. Nice speed on the drops.

Wolverine wildcat...rougher then ST. Better then MS though. decent ride, no airtime though.

Corkscrew...a pretty smooth arrow, with a drop turn 2 corkscrews and station. Smooth due to excessive padding on overhead restraints. However my brothers wife complained of her ear rings hurting her ears. (boy have I not heard that before on arrrows) ;>)

big dipper...a rough chance ride, good grief. after the drop the track tilted left the straight that was not to smooth on the knee.

zachs zoomer...well after my brother and I squeezed into the HUGE cars, and got somewhat comfortable it was a great ride. front seat, very smooth. I liked it alot, don't know why but i just did.

It does make me mad that great rides like ST villain have to be at not so great parks. By not so great I mean ride op's who don't really care about moving people quickly through the ride but get confused and delay the riders frequently. Of the 5 parks I have been to (boy that is alot) best ride ops are as follows
1: CP
Funny Thing. When I went the ride op was standing on the station tracks (a foot on each track). Thats a good way to get, well hit by a roller coaster I guess.

I liked the back seat much better than the front in ST. I guess the float over the first hill and the ejector air after the turnaround are better in the back, making it my pick for favorite seat.

Gotta ride 'em all!
Put me in any of Shivering Timbers seats.

I loved every ride during TimbersFest June 3rd.

Phenomenal Coaster.

Can't wait to get back to Mich Adv.
I agree with Soggy, I like the back seat on ST the best. I think you get great airtime in the back especially on the hill right before the turn around and the hill right after the turnaround. Plus the back is a little rougher which I like on a wooden coaster. Just the right amount of jolting and jostling to make it fun! I will be making my final trip this Saturday. I hope the ST stacking isn't to bad. Hooper, you stated that there was no airtime on W. Wildcat? What about the double dip? I always get air on that drop.
Cp twister, there was some air on that double dip. Overall I did not notice alot. Sorry I should have said I was comparing it to ST. The back on ST was a little more rough then the front. One thing I did not like. However with the air you get in the back it kinda makes up for it. I rode the back first and did not remember it being like that on Villain at SFO. By that I mean that rough and Honestly I don't think the back had as good as airtime as the back on Villain. The front did though. I guess I like the smoothest spot on woodens. The back of ST is like airtime on magnum whereas the front on ST is like airtime on MF. Magnum air is not bad at all. I just seem to like the airtime where you float up when cresting the hill instead of the air where you POP up on the drops of the hills. Although any ride with airtime I like.

Fair enough Hooper, I agree that if you like the smoother feel on a woody than the front is the place to be on ST. Don't get me wrong. I think the front is a great ride also. I just prefer the back slightly over the front. I do on most coasters. The important thing is that you found a spot that you enjoyed the most. ST is a great coaster. It just needs another great coaster in the park to compliment it. (Hyper or another CCI woody) *** This post was edited by CP Twister on 8/21/2000. ***

Actually, CP Twister, MA already has 2 CCI's. Zach's Zoomer was built by CCI. It's a jr. coaster, but still a CCI, and fun, no seat dividers.

I'm glad someone else likes Zach's Zoomer.

I thought maybe I was off the deep end.
Well that explains it I didn't know ZZ was a CCI, I should have from liking it so much. And not at all ed I liked ZZ alot, for its size and speed it is about as good as it can possibly be.

I guess I should have been more detailed on my post. I knew that ZZ was a CCI. I meant that it would be nice if they got another on top of what they already have. Actually, I think it would be great if they got another big CCI but I really think they need a major steel coaster of some sort more.
agreed that they need a steel coaster more. B&M or Intamin, and ST and whatever ride they make should be a great 1,2 punch.

I know what you meant, CP Twister, but not all people knew about ZZ being a CCI. They have been doing lots of big things to this little park. I don't think a big steel (hyper, giga, looper, whatever) will come before 2003. Another CCI wood is much more affordable, and could make for the greatest 1-2 woodie punch of ANY park.

Gotta ride 'em all!
ZZ is so cool. I wasn't expecting all of those laterals!! I even got some air!! Very neat.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
ZZ and ST are what makes Michigans Adventure so cool. It has CCI's biggest coaster and their smallest coaster!

Anyways, my 2nd park, just beaten by CP.
