MiAdv 2003 Updates?

That's the one. God, how many different levels was that episode working on? True brilliance if there ever was any in situation comedy. Someone could write a dissertation on that episode. :)

Hey, atleast if some of you come next week Timbers will actually be working, as opposed to this week ;). Our one evac in the history of ST and I missed it...UGH.

Anyway, from everything that I'm told from various sources the keyword for MIA in '03 is expansion. Midway expansion, ride area expansion, parking expansion, lodging expansion. Seriously, CF is trying to accomplish a lot for '03, as they should be. It should be an exciting offseason, and you can bet I'll bring you all updates whenever possible. Until then, just sit back and chill..or worry about CP's coaster like most enthusiasts are ;).

Not to continue the off-topicness here, but...

All in the Family was a ground-breaking show. It was the first to deal openly about rape, menopause, homosexuality, race relations, woman's rights, abortion. They were also one of the first sitcoms to use story arcs over several episodes. Normal Lear was a genious, using a conservative character to push liberal ideas.

One of my favorite story lines was when Archie's life was saved by a transvestite using mouth-to-mouth. At the end of the story arc, the transvestite was murdered. The episode was written so that the audience felt the same emotions that Archie felt.

Anyway, I'm sure MiA will announce 2003 soon.

Matthew - trying to get this back on track.

I'm actually about ten times more interested in MiAdv's expansion plans than CP's coaster. I find general park expansions to be much more exciting than a new ride - hence my interest in what this park is up to for next year.

A question - as for as lodging goes, what's around MiAdv? Motels or campgrounds or anything? I'd love to see CF quickly jump on the chance to add lodging to the park if they can.

Since 'moosh took us OT (lol).....Lou Grant was another show of this type.....the ONLY show, AFAIK, that got taken off the air at #1 in the ratings....

Oh, and MiA still needs air fresheners...;)

And all the while making fun of the whole lot in a way that embraced the humanity of each character.

Hey, am I back in art school again?

MHammer - I think MiA's pretty far away from being the type of place that needs very much in the way of hotels/camping, as there's enough in the general area to get by on for now.

Mike,
There are a couple campgrounds fairly close to the park...as far as hotels go, there isn't much of a selection.

Lodging has always been a main concern for the park; however, when they will address this concern with, lets say, lodging on site, is a moderate mystery. Whenever inquring about this with management its always been "soon." One may point out they've been busy installing new sewer and such on the far end of the park...but that could mean anything. In addition, they also own land across the street. Also, its no secret that we have another full train sitting in the employee parking lot, waiting to be used. I've heard ideas of that very train running from a resort to the park itself. So, its definitely in plans for upcoming years, just not sure of how soon.

Air fresheners? I'm just happy we haven't gotten ecoli in the water this year, like we have in the past two years!

John Peck - I do have one thing in common w/ Meathead: I'm Polish [1/2, actually]. My other 1/2 is Irish. Does that make me too dumb to stop drinking?

I was at MA this weekend when the evac happened, unfortunately I was not on the train. :-(
I think expansion and improvement plans are a much better idea for MIA at the moment (as a coaster enthusiest it pains me to say that). I think they need to get the park up to speed before another major attraction is added. I think eventually the rumored hyper (or possibly junior hyper) will be built. But it could be a couple more years at least before we see it. All speculation on my part.

The hotel/motels around there suck. The one I stayed at remind me of a place where you would find a dead hooker under your bed. Granted it was not the worse place I have ever stayed, but it was still bottom of the line.

I would dearly love to see on site lodging. Although the place I stayed at in Whitehall was convenient, clean and reasonably priced, the beds themselves left a little to be desired. Thankfully, I was so wiped out after the marathon riding during Timbersfest, I only noticed the lumpy mattress for about 10 minutes before I was out like a light.

Yeah, the hotels in the area aren't the greatest, but how many people (other than enthusiasts) really travel great distances to go to Michigan's Adventure?

Michiganders are big into camping. We have awesome state parks but they are often crowded. I live only 45 minutes away and love to get away and go camping. We camp at Muskegon state park often but would love it if MIA put in a campground of their own. It would save the drive to MIA from the state park everyday.

Camping was more fun when I was younger. At my age, I want all the comfort I can get, especially after spending a day at a park.

You are.........................................................................j/k

You are not missing all that much. I went on a hiking trip up in the Porcupine Mountains for over a week. You see some pretty scenery and experience some cool stuff, but having to move your stuff every day, using a hand pump with a filter to get water putting food up on these huge flag poles (bear can't get it), carrying every thing on your back becomes a little bit tedious after a while. (Bug can be a real pain also)

Granted you get more from doing this than the campground camping (nothing wrong with that) but I would rather have a climate controlled room and a nice cushy bead to sleep in. It sure beats sleeping on lumpy ground and NO rain or the dew can't get you wet if touch the tent wall during the night!

Kind of an update I noticed here....http://miadventure.com/frame.htm. On the physics page if you download the ride problems, Thunderbolt and Falling star are listed.

It looks like these rides are gonna be there next year, maybe not in the same spot though.
