Message to Jeffy

Sorry man, but I got a kick out of "Jeffyland" in RCT! (Great Raptor recreation)

This might drag on a little long, so I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes, because I dont intend to check for them.

I started visiting "Guide to the Point" last June, after I visited Cedar Point for the very first time. I went into the forums, and found out a lot of very good information about parks, funny stories, and lots of RCT goodies.

I eventually got an E-Mail about the new website "Coasterbuzz". I signed up the first day. It was a interesting idea, a completely member-run site, with different forums for each park that was major at that time.

At that time, my screen name was "Millenium Force" where I unfortunately misspelled it. That was a pretty bad scar, but I got to rename myself sooner or later.

As more and more people join this site, I am starting to see more and more neglect of the members that come here.

I think the best way to explain this is a little saying:

"A fool speaks because he has to say something, a wise man speaks because he has something to say"

That explains very well what coasterbuzz is turning into. Now I know its very easy to say something stupid, I even got kicked out of coasterbuzz for a stupid comment the day before MF was announced.

One example of this is a recent post, where I asked seasoned ride-goers what they're favorite rides were, and I saw a reply apologizing that it only included CP coasters. Did this guy read the post? Or just want to type something?

Now theres many things that can be done here.
One thing is a karma rating, AKA danimation, but not the negative kind. Maybe one that gives you a point for a really interesting topic, or something that contributes to the site or helps the members. That sort of thing. Rewarding good behavior! :)

I don't know, in the overall scheme of things, I find the forums here to be the friendliest and most on-topic on the 'Net in our little obsession. You'll always have people who talk to hear themselves, but the Darwinistic forces of nature tend to make those people go away when no one responds to what they have to say. When you spend $200/month on marketing the site, you're going to attract some people who will be there for no other reason than to annoy everyone else.

I don't want to make a big deal out of moderation. We do it more than most forums, sure, but it shouldn't be a topic of discussion in itself. We'll take care of it, and let things keep moving forward on their own power.
