Memorable Coaster Commercials...

i remember when Riddler's Revenge had just opened, and the commercial had a kid running with his arms in the air in slow motion towards the camera with the olympic theme song playing...He gets up to the camera, and leans over to puke in a trash can, revealing the Riddler's Revenge entrance sign behind him... Classic.

"Whoooa, that's hot. There isn't a man alive who wouldn't get turned on by that. Well, goodbye!" - Homer Simpson

The only one that stands out as memorable in my mind is the Demon Drop commercial. I remember the little scary song. In fact, that's the only commercial specifically for one coaster that I can remember.

I don't remember the commercial specifically (if someone does I'd love a description) but I have memories of seeing commercials for Iron Dragon. I was 13 or 14 at the time and not even into coasters. I just remember thinking it had to be the coolest thing ever - I'm a kid from rural western PA seeing commercials for a coaster that hangs below the track. I remember telling one of my friends about it and that year his family actually went to CP. He came back saying it wasn't that great (even back then, heh) but I refused to believe him.

I never did get to ride Iron Dragon until 1995...

Yea AFLAC! That duck rocks - they shouldn't have made the guy so wussy in that commercial!!
I remember a Chex commercial that had people riding in a coaster made of Chex...I remember that commercial because the train they were riding in looked EXACTLY like an Intamin hyper/giga train...

"Enjoy your record-breaking ride on Millennium Force"

ca. 1990. B&W. Vacant playground. Very determined kid climbing the stairs on the back of the slide. I think there may have been a double-dutch chant going on very faintly in the background. As the kid reaches the top of the slide, cut to his face shot as he looks down.

V/O: When you finally grow up...

Cut to full-color POV of Magnum XL-200 as it starts down the first drop

V/O: ...you're ready for the Magnum.

That has to be one of the best I've seen.... :)

Last year's Phantom's Revenge commercials, especially because I was in them. :)

"Revenge will be mine!"

The AFLAC commercial is classic! :)

The most memorable commercial for me wasnt even a TV ad but rather a radio spot. It was for SFGAm's Iron Wolf back in 1990 (I would hear it about everyday on B-96). There was a little girl singing in nursery rhyme style.
Who's afraid of the bigbadwolf
The big bad wolf,
The big....bad.....
UH-OH!!!!

I can still hear it in my head.

Only one I remeber is that Drop Zone commercial for PGA. It shows the guy screaming and his lips are being pulled up to his nose from the forces. It was in slow motion too so the drop seemed really long.

That would be the commercial for Chrysler. The kid driving the parking lot tram keeps going out of his way to ogle a PT Cruiser, a Concorde, etc..

Hats off to Carolina. Well played, 'Canes, well played.

I will never forget Medusa's commerial. I went

"Medusa rears it's ugly head, A monster coaster unlike the world has ever seen! You're strapped to a flying chair, 14 stories in the air! Just don't look down.......you can turn to STONE! Only at Six Flags Great Adventure! Save $10 dollars off adult admission with a coupon from participating Burger King resturants."

I went crazy the first time I saw it during a late night "Friends" episode. I watched Friends every night all summer to watch it again. Then I found it at Alexsplace.com!

While I, too, absolutely *love* the AFLAC commercial there was one other that I remember as a kid that totally had me intrigued: [SF]MM's commercial for Revolution. The tag line at the end was "Revolution...it'll knock your socks off!" and I remember going to the park when it opened and looking for a pile of socks under the loop. And why didn't my socks come off when I rode it? LOL!

Huh?!?! I must be really delusional then.

"Have fun stormin' the castle!"

That Six Fags commercial that advertised all the park, "I Want to Touch the Sky." It was so well put together and had great glamour shots.

The Roar WEST commercial looked like it was made for one of those rated R horror films, kind of like Hush.

Glamour shot of Roar(ascending of first drop)

Black screen

Glamour shot of Roar(tackling first turnaround)

Black screen

Glamour shot of Roar(ascending fourth turn around)

Black screen

Voices of riders scream carries over after pictures fades away

Big scary voice says, "Roar....."

Roar logo fades ins

Backgrounds sound clip of Roar racing over the track

Big scary voice says "You'll never hear the end of it!"

Voice echos of, and then it's dead silence

Six Flags Marine World logo and info fades in with no sounds
