Mean Streak - Cedar Point

^ 5 trains would be pointless on Kinda Krap because the launch intervals are so slow thanks Zumanjaro. It would be perpetually stacked.

But then again, what do I know?

So whats sf excuse before zumanjaro opened? Since everyone is so sure that meanstreak will open on opening day 2017 lets put our money where are keyboards are! I will take all bets that it will open on opening day 2018!

Who exactly are you arguing with? I think I've seen one person in this thread in the last few days say that they think the conversion is for 2017.

What do you all mean when you say you don't know when it will open? I already booked my flight!

I wouldn't be surprised to see a double loading station (either in-line or side-by-side) and more than 3 trains. I bet CP is banking on this being a huge draw/very popular ride. How about a launch half way through? RMC should have launch issues worked out soon. A lift section, then when that gets low, a nice launch section. They have plenty of structure to whiz around in.

Hmm, I like your style. I always thought it would be neat to have LSMs half way down a large drop therefore aiding gravity. I don't think that's been done before.

... There's lengthy debate about whether the images are fake (pretty sure they are real), but it does seem RMC has a crane out on site already...

One picture that has been posted as a crane on site with structure already being cut has been found to be a picture from another previous job site. Someone on Pointbuzz posted a link to where the picture comes from in the" Mean Streak gets the axe thread". The one in the shop parking lot appears legit and the one with a crane close up against what is said to be Mean Streak may or may not be legit. There's been discussion at Pointbuzz about the angle and trying to place exactly where the photo was taken from. So far not proved or disproved. Whether on site or not they are at least on company property in Sandusky. I'm enjoying the suspense and the detective work everyone is doing. Even the possible trolling has been amusing. Whatever is or isn't there I'll have the chance to see for myself this weekend.

Everyone comparing construction times with other ride projects rings of a bit of ignorance to me. A project like that can be scaled up in manpower and equipment if you're willing to throw money at the problem and we all know CG loves to spoil their favorite child.

Also with a reprofiling, they do not have to use the entire existing structure. They could conceivaby eliminate a large section of mean streaks current footprint and still make a damn good ride and it would likely cut the cost and time of the project.

2018 is still possible to me but bringing crane trucks in at this point in time would heavily suggest a 2017 project.

I can't wait to ride the world's first, tallest, fastest, longest, inverted, wood, steel, hybrid, pre-fab, stand-up, sit-down, launched, racing, dueling, moebius, shuttle, continuous circuit, RMC-converted Dragon Wagon with the most inversions that will undoubtedly open in March of 2017. Flight is booked.

Texas Giant opened with 3 trains but quickly went down to 2. They cycle is short enough that the third trains was only saving a couple of seconds, anyway. After the first season, I've never seen the 3rd train on the track and I think it's been cannibalized for parts. The real question is whether/how much they're going to shorten the layout. RMC conversions have chopped off anywhere from 500' to 1800'.

I meant have a launch section when the first half/lift section started to peter out. Like Maverick, but hopefully using much more of it's energy before hitting brakes. (Maverick twice hitting brakes after speeding along... Seems a bit silly.)

I didn't word that too well originally. Your idea could be interesting as well!

I say they give it green track and call it Green Streak. What does everybody think?

Forget gold! Green tracks, green trains. Green Streak!

No "Streak". Mean Streak is dead and buried. Mean Streak was a beat the crap out of you wood coaster and whatever RMC does with the structure the result will not be anything like that. It will be something completely different that just happens to utilize the beautiful skeletal remains of Mean Streak. With Tony's insistence that people stop asking him about Mean Streak because it's dead and in the deceased rides area I feel more confident that whatever RMC produces in that spot will not be Return of Mean Streak, Revenge of Mean Streak, Son of Mean Streak, Third Cousin Twice Removed of Mean Streak or anything else "of Mean Streak". With the reputation Mean Streak had I'm sure the park would want to keep associations between the two coasters at a minimum. If there were plans to relate the two I doubt they would have gone all out with the funeral to make such a point of MS being dead. It's time to let little blue up front be the only streak in the park.

So "Ghost of Mean Streak" is out?

This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!

I'm thinking that they should go with an easily pronounceable name, such as "Tumble Weed," sticking to western theme. It should be able to get the most inversions on an RMC.

Paint the structure white and the tracks brown, call it Turd Streak.

But then again, what do I know?

That makes sense. They didn't call Mantis, "Son of Mantis" or "Mantis' Revenge."
