Mean Steak Trains

Actually, that's *EXACTLY* the coaster that I think in most like Mean Streak, the Beast. Both coasters have a whole lot of track that doesnt do $#!+. (save the ending helix on Beast).

I think they reek equally :)

Thank God it's finally OK to say the Beast isn't all that. I've felt that way for a long time. I really dig that final helix, no question about it, but the first half is like "Amtrak through the woods," as someone once put it to me.

You guys are right about The Beast..almost.   I rode it 7 times this year, and for the most part found that it paled in comparison to the ride I knew as a kiddie.  I did get one ride about a month ago on the walk back that was absolutely killer, and was equal to the rides I had on the Legend the day before.   I was absolutely stunned that it could still produce that great of a thrill.   Needless to say the very next ride was a complete dud.  Go figure...
I have to agree that I haven't been THAT impressed by the Beast overall.

It's funny, though.  I just completed the Wooden Poll (yes, I actually ranked coasters -- it was tough! :) )  Where did I rank Beast?  13th.  Mean Streak?  38th, out of 41, ahead of only Raging Wolf Bobs, Hercules, and Rolling Thunder.

So when I sat down and asked myself what rides I actually liked riding the most, Beast landed pretty high up my list, while Mean Streak fell pretty far down.

The Beast still is in my top 5 overall.  It just has all of the things I like.  I'm not big on airtime, but I like speed.  I like rides that are low to the ground, I like tunnels, I like length.  No other ride has ever been built that's like the Beast.  That's why I like it.

That said, the Raven now is my favorite wooden coaster, as it also has most of those traits (replacing length with air).

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."

You're all wrong. None of us have ridden "Mean Steak". It would, however, taste better than the wooden torture chamber this topic refers to! Can someone pass the A1?

Mean Streak is okay. Theres alot better coasters. If you like wooden coasters just go to Kings Island and ride The Beast or Son of Beast.
Teh beast oh come on now, its totally out of control an amazing ride my number one definitely, riding that thing at night is teh most amazing coaster experience I have ever had it's unreal. Comparing MS to the beast is sacrilouge and MS is no longer rough if you ask me it goes to slow to be rough, I could sleep on the thing.  When it was new it was awesome though, it had the same out of control feeling the beast has, but now that they slowed it down its just not there.  Maintainence is not an issue I think CP maintains it to teh best of their ability its just teh whole Dinn-Summer's thing.  Maybe Denise Dinn could salvage teh ride who knows, American Flyer trains might be sweet too.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
I like the roughness. It gives it a better experiance, and overall I think the Beast is better. Same with Son of Beast. But i dont have anything against MS, its just that i like the beast better.
Let me be clear for the record. I do NOT find Mean Streak rough. It didnt hurt me at all. It's just that for most of the ride it didnt do anything. And that's the same comment about the Beast. But HEY! That's just *my* opinion.
