Mean Steak Trains

Who are they made by?  Would the ride be better if it had wooden twister trains like Lightning Racer has?
I think they are PTC. I don't know why noone enjoys MS. I found it to be a nice ride.

I like Mean Streak. It has lots of potental. Just turn off them brakes.
yeah see, if they turned off the brakes it would be unrideable for the track would wear away over time.  i just dont like how cramped the damn things are (same goes for blue streak).
Its unrideable as it is with those brakes.  Its so boring going so slow through it. They should let it wear down and then when it wears down tear down the ride and make a bigger better coaster or fix it.

Since mid-August when Mean Streak rolled backed the trims(first drop) have not been or were barely on.

Mean Streak is a great ride... on closing day, I took a spin on it about a hour before the parked closed and it was the greatest ride on it ever. The trims on the first drop were barely on and the mid-course were barely on too. Let me tell you that was one out of control ride.

You won't see the ride go anywhere, I belive that every year it is one of the ten most popular rides at Cedar Point.

Mean Streak, don't get me started. Can you say rough, slow, and boring? Nice long ride though. And yes, those are PTC trains.

I actually didn't ride Mean Streak even once this year. That's a first in my season pass career. Heck, I didn't even ride Mantis.

Mind you, I've had other priorities to deal with this year, so I didn't get to The Point as much as I would have liked to.

I think Mean Streak is a pretty good ride, my home park is CP so I always ride it when I go. But I love getting beat up so this is imo. They should never take Mean Streak down as it is also a beautiful ride to watch in Frontier Town.

I've always loved the Mean Streak. If you know how to ride it, it doesn't beat you up at all. But the trims did make it slow and boring. I didn't get to the park in August, and in Sept only made MM, so I didn't realize they backed off on the trims. I hope they keep them off next season.

See, that's the problem, though. I'm happy riding coasters that I "have to know how to ride", once I've learned/figured it out (and that includes Mean Streak, in spite of my tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek signature). But for a lot of people who don't like to just ride over and over again, they get on a ride, it hurts, they swear off the ride. This isn't limited just to Mean Streak, but MS IS a good example.

i always ride MS and Mantis when i go to CP...
I rode MS this year at night with no trims...it was sweet. There was airtime, laterals, and speed!

Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack

Actually for any interested parties (Andrew), Mean Streak gets less ridership than the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, and its popularity is sharply declining year after year.

Go ahead, doubt me, not like I brought the daily turnstile sheet for Mine Ride in at the same time as Mean Streak every day and compared numbers, just to say we beat them.

Wow. When I went, there was a 1/2 hour wait, even with three trains running.

I'd believe it Natalie, I know we rode CCMR more than MS during our trip to Ohio this year.  Of course, that was BEFORE they released the trims on the first drop....

I remember the 2 hour waits for MS, and I agree ridership has definitely fallen off. Whenever I hear someone in the park saying it's too rough, I'd pop up and tell them how to ride it. If I were standing in line for MS with someone who'd never ridden before, I'd tell them how to ride it. I placed MS above Magnum in my fav coasters until they trimmed it. I STILL think it's a great coaster.

And Natalie, before a boyfriend convinced me to ride the Blue Streak back in 1969, the only coaster I would ride was the Mine Ride! I'll always have a special place in my heart for it!

Well this says it all, tear town Mean Streak and Build another Mine Train, or better yet just replace the laminated wood with the steel and replace them with tubular steel. : )

I think the trims were off on closing day, fist half of the ride reminded me of, do I dare say the Beast?  I was thrown everywhere, the ride was smooth and it even had a few spots of airtime. Even with the midcourse not grabbing hard the 2nd half was still boring. Something needs to be done with those dull turns.
