Maybe a lame Impulse idea? Might be cool....!

Technology is advancing every day... If someone wanted a dueling / racing impulse bad enough they could research & develop more efficient LIMs.

Didn't S:TE used to simultaneously launch?  Or was it always staggered?

I have seen it simultaneously launched.

Although not in person, I have seen B&R: The Chiller simultaneouly launched on video that was shot during the 2 partial days it operated in 1997.

I think nasai has a good idea that we'll actually see materialize before too long.

As for the problem with power, if a park wants it done, it will get done.  Just a matter of who wants to give up the money.

I had a similar idea back when S:UE was being built.  It was the same concept, except for it to fit into this park I was doodling, the trains didn't launch straight towards eachother, but at more of an angle, like around 30 degrees or so, so it made like a v shape, with the twisted spikes at the point.

Ravenguy, that sounds cool too....same thing I guess.   The trains could come to a stop at top, and still be really close to each other.  It would be cool to be able to toss a hat to your buddy or something.  Of course, you would get tossed out of the park.  (No, I am not saying that is a smart idea:))  or a little handslap at the top.  Wild.
