Maybe a lame Impulse idea? Might be cool....!

Since the inception of the impulse, I am wondering how not one park has built a dueling/head to head impulse coaster?  Can you imagine what it would be like to come barreling down the track head on at another set of cars ala the Fire and Ice Dragon?  What I think would even be more interesting would be to slighly offset them from head on, and have the spikes next to each other, so when you reached to top and twisted, you would float there a moment (200 feet in the air) facing each other, and laughing.  Do you understand how I mean?

Kind of like that?   (Imagine you are looking straight down on them.)  The twisted spikes are both ends that meet in the middle.  Am I missing something?  Is there a coaster/impulse out there that does this somewhere in the world?  Are there plans?  Anyone?

That does sound pretty cool.
Power drainage =(  Name a LIM ride that has two simultaneous launches.....

The dueling aspect would be lost on anyone not sitting in the front.  I say spend the money on something else.
I think what he means is to build 2 impulse coasters paralell to each other but just off  center so the trains come right at each other. It sounds like a pretty cool idea but it would take an enormous amount of power to run both coasters simultainiously all day long.

Granted, it would take tremendous power output, but I don't see what that necessarily means in the way of it not being a possibility.  The thing I am trying to suggest is that a park with a mid-level budget can build something similar, and have a very unique (along with a much faster queue) ride that will be a satisfying experience.  I know that the dueling aspect might get lost on anyone past the front 2 rows, but the same thing happens on the Dragons, and nobody complains.  Again, it's just an idea, but it IS feasible.

Ummmmm Chiller, doesnt Batman and Robin the Chiller? lol

"Yeah, they did it in Superman 3"
I think it would be neat to have a flying impulse.  Expecially going backwards going upside down.  And the spiral would be neat too.

You can hear the laughter, you can hear the mighty roar. From the brickyard down in Indy to the white Chicago shore. It's a rollin', twistin', turnin' and might we both suggest. You get you fanny ridin' on the Cornball Express!
Yeah i think Chiller knows that but his point is probably there is only one. I was also thinking about something like that but have them intertwined. I know that they would have to have a larger turn around to intertwine but would look really cool.

stop complaining kid and just ride
Although it doesn't launch simutaneously, but pretty close enough, Speed: the Ride has two launches, and at the speed that ride goes, its almost like two at the same time..

oh watever i dont understand myself and why im living...

The chiller doesn launch at the same time. Thats the point hes making.

3.2.1 launch
ive been on the chiller many times were it was launched at the same time so that the trains were racing

Another "cool" idea for an impulse..would be a flying impulse.  That would be too awesome.

That's what many people thought the impulse(s) at CP were going to be before the WT announcement.

As a fact, that has not happened since early 98.  The point I was making was having a simultaneous LIM launch, it's very difficult, so difficult that there's basically no coaster in existance that really does it anymore.

Chiller hasn't raced in years.  The second LIM's on Robin didn't fire because of power drainage and Robin valleyed between the heartline and the cobra roll on the way back down.  Thus, GAdv. doesn't race them anymore.

How about upping the ante on the power?  Who says it can't happen?  It just isn't now.........  Again, it is possible, and I was just wondering what you guys thought.  What parks might be able to truly use such a coaster?

...when I first heard Jeff's (admittedly vague) hints about WT, I was thinking of dueling impulses...it's occurred to me that a park as big a draw as CP might have a small capacity problem with a single new SHUTTLE coaster...

Shame about Chiller, never saw it race, but I kinda thought it had been meant to...must've been "cool", lol...the ONLY sweatshirt in my coaster collection...note to self, still cold in Jersey in May...

S:TE?  I know its not the same system the Impulses use but they have a simultaneous launch?
