maXair "A" frames going up right this second

Ol' John Peck here just happened to check the maXair webcam to find the main support beams going up. Since all four supports have to be raised as quickly as possible to make the "A" frame, construction has to move quickly.

Of course, there are many cranes on site so things don't slip. But once again, things will move quickly, so I figured I'd point it out so you didn't miss it!

You don't have to thank me :)

Heres a link, hope it works...

I count five cranes, one for each leg, one for the hub... but what about one to hold up the guys that have to bolt the hub to the legs?

Duh, it's Cedar Point, they've invented anti-gravity boots for the iron workers ... ;)

It looks like a 6th crane is moving into view now!

yeah the 6th one is a small tan crane for the iron workers

Are my eyes deceiving me, or do I see a crane to the right with an iron worker on it as well?

I now actually see 7 cranes. WOW!

OOPS....I guess we broke the site for now. LOL! *** Edited 2/16/2005 6:47:49 PM UTC by beast7369***

I got the error once too, but I manually refreshed the page and it works.

Thanks anyhow.

Hi

"Watch construction of Cedar Point's latest thrill ride, maXair. maXair will be Cedar Point's 68th ride and will help the park maintain the title of the most rides (68), including roller coasters (16) in the world. (This photo is an archive photo from earlier.)"

What does maxair have to do with having 16 coasters?

It doesn't, and they're not saying it does. maXair is ride #68. The 16 coasters are counted as part of the 68 rides the park has. maXair helps CP maintain its records of "most rides."
I am kinda still new to amusement park battles for rides and all this, but how many other parks other than Kings Island actually have one of these Frisbees. Could this be the dawning of the tower rides all over again, if this is an accepted concept. I mean every park has to have one of the towers, how much are these things liked. Cause if this does well here, then we might see more of these. I know for a fact that when i was at KI Delirium was getting a decent to an insane crowd for a ride like a flat.

In the US only CP and PKI have this model. There are others outside the US. Not sure what it has to do with tower rides...what do you mean?

Well, I justthink that the 16 coasters was somewhat irrelevant, though I can see where the 68 rides is perfectly fine.

Having 16 coasters is a main selling point of the park and something you'll see in just about every press release from the park...how is it irrelevant?
Strange.. why are they using an archived photo from earlier? Isn't the point of a webcam to see how it is at the current moment - day or night? I understand that they just finished the A-frame, and could see if they put that photo above/below the live one, but why just the archived photo? Are they trying to cover something up? Perhaps some surprise feature they haven't released yet?

Just curious and inquisitive at the moment.. :)

Because not too many people would be interested in seeing a black square.

This is what was done when work on the ride ended today (more than likely) - tomorrow we pick up where we left off.

As for the number of Giant Frisbees outside of the U.S., there is one (Sledgehammer) at Bobbejaanland in Belgium, and 2 or 3 in Japan. I'm pretty sure Fuji-Q and Nagashima each have one.

Now to maXair, I thought the frame would be bigger (I haven't seen Delirium in person but it did look big in pictures). Still a perfect addition for the park, hopefully I can get out there next year when I can drive...

Sweet, I like what I see. Josh To answer your question some what the framing is pretty much right. For one don't forget that this camera is positions on top of Johhny Rockets thats a good 20ft up probably more I'd say. I've been to PKI and delerium close up on ground level is still quite the big flat, as well as Maxair will be. I know ill definitly be making a day trip down to sandusky this year, I def need my fix after not making it out for the 04 season.
