I have never greyed out, but sometimes I have felt like my head was gonna explode on the Vortex. i think I wasn't used to the slightly rouger rides at PKI. If you just relax when you ride, nothing happens. It is when you tense up something you get hurt. That happened to me on MF. My right thigh tensed up at the bottom of the first hill and it killed until we got a little bit of airtime on the second hill( after first overbank).

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
i agree MFBound totally with u. although some of u think trim brakes on the Mantis, don't effect it, you couldn't be more wrong. trims on the first hill lose some momentum for me.
.... Ok what do you all think is better??? Chang or Mantis and why?? I think the Chang is better because its extra inversion and its bigger drop which I dont really think is all that.
I'll agree with Cedar Creek Mine Ride...the trims actually IMPROVE the ride!!! The you get more airtime on some of the abrupt direction changes, and it doesn't hurt as much.
I haven't ridden Chang, but I think that if I would, I would still like Mantis better, because my favorite part of that ride is the whipping around the turns at the end, which Chang doesn't have. One thing I've noticed the last few times I've been to CP, is that the mid-courses on Mantis brake the trains more than they used to..which means the turns aren't nearly as intense as I'm used to them being. Enough complaining though, it's still a good ride.
And I also agree that the trims down the 1st drop are barely noticable. They just slow the trains down enough so the big loop doesn't pull as many g's. as it did before.
Has anything like this happened to riders on SUE at SFO??? Because there is one spot after the fourth swing (while hitting maximum speed) that you reach 6 G's. The 6 G-Forces are instantaneous however and are probably not felt full force.

RCFan13: Well I have been on both Chang and Mantis and I have to say Chang was the best standup I've ever been on. Mantis is a good coaster no doubt, but Chang blew me away. I cant say exactly what it was about the ride that made me like it so. Maybe it's because it's the only gem in an otherwise lackluster park. Maybe it's because I didnt have to wait like an hour and a half to ride it. Whatever the case, it just felt so out of control, it was wonderful. To me Mantis ran the course at a nice even pace (ridden in '96 & '97) but Chang just felt like it was going to fly off the track (especially seeing the diving loop from the front row). I must note that neither coaster made me feel like I was gonna pass out or excessive legs pain (crotch 'discomfort' yes, but not the legs). Both are awesome, but Chang gave me a real good feeling that day =].
