Manhattan Express now called The Roller Coaster

In a bit of weird news...Las Vegas' New York New York Hotel & Casino has renamed their Togo coaster (formerly known as Manhattan Express) The Roller Coaster. The name change went along with the introduction of the new rolling stock, which is only a slight improvement over the old trains in terms of rider comfort and ergonmics...

But here's my take on the new name...I think it's a good move. Sure, everyone else will bombard with replies like - "THAT NAME IS SO LAME!" or "WOW, THAT'S NOT ORIGINAL [/SARCASM], I think the new name is more marketable and catches on easier.

Ride The Roller Coaster at the New York New York

as opposed to

Ride Manhattan Express at the New York New York

Any thoughts?

First you got a link proving this. I dot feel like googling it right now. Also I think it sucks lol. Sry, I totally see your point, but I think thats like changing the name of Corvette to A Car. its just lame and uninteresting.

I guess it safe to assume that the NY:NY isn't getting another coaster till this one comes down. ;)
^ Not necessarily.

If they decided to build a second one, they'd just call it The Other Roller Coaster. ;)

Wow, Manhattan Express has new Premiere trains? How did I miss this bit of news? Are they lap bar only? If that is the case I may actually ride it again.

I heard they still suck...

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Let me get this straight, they had a bad coaster with an alright name. Now they made the coaster better (new trains) with a crappy name.
Hey sry about that kRaXLeRidAh. I was having a long day and missed it. Thanks though.

Actually I rode it with the new trains a little over a week ago and it didn't seem bad at all. I looked at the train design and though hey these may be the new trains. The lap bar was a give away. The shoulder restraints are kind of odd though.

Watch the tram car please....
And New York New York is changing its name to "City Skyline"
Well, some of us older enthusiasts will tell you there were plenty of coasters back in the day with rather bland names. It isn't unprecedented.

I'm wondering if they had any issues with people not putting the rollercoaster and the name "Manhattan Express" together when trying to locate the ride. Now, if they see signs for The Rollercoaster it should be painfully obvious.

The Roller Coaster! Ask for it by name.

I just rode it last week with the new trains and the ride still tracks bad, my shins were smasked against the lap bar and the awkward shoulder restraints are....well, awkward. A far cry from that lil LIM launcher at the other end of the strip still. *** Edited 8/30/2006 3:54:58 PM UTC by DorneyDante***
Wel at least they didn't rename it "rollercoaster 1" LOL.

"Rollercoaster 1 looks too intense for me".

"I'm not paying that much to go on rollercoaster 1 !".

And my favorite< & you all knew this was coming>

"Rollercoaster 1 has just crashed!".

I rode this in February and itreally REALLY sucked! I can't imagine new trains saving that thing.

The casino was pretty cool! The ride was hideous.

hehe my thoughts exactly FScott. Its a TOGO though, so what would you expect? Its a great looking coaster if anything. Me and my friend couldn't figure out why everyone was clapping on our return to the station. Apparently the GP likes it. But in all honesty, they don't really have many coasters in that area of the U.S. so there isn't much competition. People in southern Nevada wouldn't know a good coaster if it bit them in the arse.
Anybody have a link to see these new trains?
