Now there's some smoking enforcement I can get behind. :)

Wow, since when did the Canadians testicles evolve to become bigger than the Americans?

I think it's more a case of American Devolution...

I like it, excellent smoking enforcement! I just wish people would learn to shoot cell phone videos with the phone sideways, not vertical.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I gave up smoking on rides years ago. Took up brownie eating instead.

Give the guy a break, security guards! He's 22 years old and he's already COMPLETELY BALD! And he doesn't speak English!

In Quebec not speaking English is an asset :)

I don't see how. The other 360 million people on the part of the continent that matters speak it.

We always have been. Ever watch a hockey game ;)

Montreal is 100% bilingual. Or at least close to 100... It's nearly impossible to find employment without English.

Is there some smoking enforcement you can't get behind?

Yes, the inconsistent and half-assed kind.

What Captain Hawkeye said about not speaking English in Quebec being an asset is partially true. I have been to Montreal a few times, and they do not embrace the English language there at all. As a majority of the people in Quebec, and Montreal speak French. People in Montreal also have a very low opinion of Toronto as it's English speaking traitor.

I have been there a few times, and if you speak English, they immediately know that you are from the United States. As apparently, our English differs from Canadian English, which has a more British sound to it. It's actually very off-putting to hear African Canadians talk in Montreal, because they all sound like they should be on an episode of Benny Hill, with a huge lack of the baggy pants crowd, which is actually very refreshing.

My friends and I spent some time at the Montreal Eaton Center, which is a multi-level shopping mall in Downtown Montreal, and we asked an employee of one of the shops, what it was like to work there, and she said one of the requirements was to know 7 different languages. English was one, but it was more important for them to know Spanish and Chinese. As Montreal has a large population of Chinese citizens. Another language was Arabic, and Mandarin, whatever that is.

She asked how many languages I knew, and I said. Just English. And, she said, that I would not be hired for a job there, without having to learn more languages. But, English was not needed as much as some of the other languages. Though she was very friendly and helpful. As most people there were. It was also a very busy place. That, and their Bay department store was huge. Though expensive.

Also found it fun that there was a store in the mall that just sold underwear. Also, they are not shy about adult themed shops, as there was a very weird club right across the street from the mall, with a live leather display going on in the window, and at some shops down the road, they sold porn on racks right on the sidewalk. That would never happen in the US.

As for the smoking thing. You have to be pretty selfish to feel the need to light up a cigarette in a closed environment like a monorail. One of my biggest complaints is losers who feel the need to smoke it the queue while waiting in line for the rides. Once saw a girl who was gesturing so much with her cigarette that she set the girl's hair in front of her on fire. Also found a burn hole in one of my favorite jackets, after being at Cedar Point one day.

It's just plain selfish. And, I'm glad they arrested him.

I didn't do it! I swear!!

Do you have an address for the porn shop?

Hi

I love Canada. You can walk around butt naked but don't "utter" something or you go straight to jail.

I don't know a bit of French, but I handled my time in Montreal easily. When ever I needed waited on I would always open with "bonjour" or what ever fractured phrase I could muster and she would respond in kind. Then I would switch to English and she would graciously do the same. Never had a hassle about it, or felt like anyone was looking askance at us.

Wow, TimberRider. Seven different languages required to work at the mall? The rocket scientists there must be REALLY something. Btw, Mandarin is a Chinese language.

And you should drive down to Columbus someday, as we've already picked up on a cool trend that apparently originated in Montreal. We have a multi level mall here that has a store that sells nothing but hats. And another one with just lotions and soaps. Then there's another one that just has dresses for ladies. It's cool, and the great thing is we all speak nothing but English all day long.

Mandarin IS Chinese for all intents and purposes. There are other dialects which are used by various groups of people, but the official language is Mandarin and just about everyone learns it.

hey RCMAC, maybe I should have rephrased that. The underwear store only sold men's underwear. No women's no kids, just men's, but, they also sold men's hats, and other men's accessories. That's why I found it a tad on the unusual side. It's not victorias secret. More like Priape.

Also it wasn't just one shop that sold porn on the sidewalk, there were actually quite a few that did. But, a majority of their merchandise is stuff you could buy at any discount store. One even sold those huge area rugs, and had lots of them. The thing that bugged me most about the porn, is that it was being sold on the sidewalk on racks, at child level. NEVER happen in the US. Even the local drug store sold porn, similar to a 7/11.

There was a cool café not far from the Eaton center, where you could get Peanut Butter punch, and a deep fried dish that consisted of a mixture of mashed potato and fish. And, it cost less then McDonalds. I thought it sounded gross at first, but it tasted awesome! I don't think it's there anymore. But, they did have some funky places to eat.

The best was the Bistro for breakfast. All you can eat, and they cook the food in front of you. You will get the biggest 3 egg omelet you have ever had, along with many side to chose from. Totally stuffed for $9.00. Plus unlimited drinks, coffee, milk, soda or Juice.

Also, the seven languages requirement, was what I was told by someone who worked there. I was only commenting on what I was told. And, that English was just not as important as knowing Chinese. It's not a joke.

Well, I would argue that Cantonese is pretty popular because it's spoken by almost 200 million people in China, but that's only like 15% of the population.
