Magic Mountain to get another coaster in 2010

OMG, Matt! You like the business side of the industry? I like the business side of the industry too!

What was the last business related discussion you had? My favorite business topic is Virtual Queue Systems and whether they're good or bad for the industry!

We should so post a poll asking people what the bestest business topic ever is!

;) :)

^ What'd he miss? The part where you sound like a broken record? It really couldn't be that...

We've already established my similarity to a broken record is hard to miss! lol

I liked that 20 page thread about the lack of signs and traffic control going into SFGAdv's parking lot we had a while back.

Your second bit about most of us having never run a corporation cuts both ways - you haven't either.

And I never pretended to know anything about all the "mistakes" Six Flags may or may not be making. I'll stick to my original point, I think the addition of a roller coaster to a park known for roller coasters is a good thing for me, a roller coaster enthusiast.

EDIT: I think this seems pertinent -

Hmmmm... I have no idea. I've never heard that, but that doesn't mean anything. My point is that the KBF flume is arguably the best one around. To remove it would be one of the worst decisions in the history of the amusement industry.

Sorry, I don't follow your logic, I never said SFMM should remove the flume rides. I like flume rides.

My point was that you were earlier beyotching about our criticizing of whatever business decisions SFMM is making and yet you're doing the same thing about a hypothetical business decision KBF could make.

Read your own words... hypothetical vs actual. Theres a difference.

I feel a haiku coming on . . .

Won't I just shut up?

I really like where Shapiro is coming from here. And you can bet that if SFMM builds another coaster in 2010, it will be far removed from what we've seen built there in the past, and more in line with what we're seeing with Terminator.

With each article I read, I'm a little more gay for Mark Shapiro.

(sorry Moosh)

I have no problem with Magic Mountain adding another to their collection. Not too long ago I visited both Knotts and Magic Mountain. I enjoyed both. I was, however, surprised at my day at Magic Mountain. Based on everything I've read, I all but expected to leave the place in tears and with a knife wound.... I'd have to say the service at Magic Mountain was on par, if not better than at Knotts. Any time I visit the LA area I'll make it a point to include both destinations, but if I had to decide between the two, lack of flats be damned, I'll choose the park with just about the most unique collection of coasters in the world over the park with a 12 second Intamin accelerator, fluff B&M inverter (as opposed to THE inverter to end all inverters), a good wooden coaster, and some good fried chicken.

My favorite was the discussion about whether an "over-privilged" Virginian band being allowed to visit Disney World was a good business decision for the local school board.

As I've said, I totally "get" that the park has improved in recent years. My negative feelings are based on about a decade of poor customer service. That's not something I, my family, and friends are going to get over -- or forgive -- quickly. And anyone who doesn't reply on mommy and daddy's money and has to spend their own hard-earned cash should easily understand where we're coming from.

Moosh, you're just proof of the #3 rule in customer service.

Its far easier to keep a customer than to win one back.

I thought rule #3 was "profit..."

So in other words, you have nothing to add except that -

1. Talking business when you've never run one is just "blowing smoke."
2. Ignore #1 if there is a made up, hypothetical business scenario Soggy has pulled from thin air.

Got it.

I'll add on my own, since the thread seems to be going this way:

3. ?????
4. PROFIT!

It was the "Under New Management" sign out front that let me go back with an open mind. :)

Keep reaching at straws, matt, keep reaching. You're the one who quoted me from a completely different topic. I think back in 2001 I may have made a comment that has nothing to do with this topic that you may want to dig up and quote. Happy searching!
