OhioStater:
I mean, I'm sure there is more to what actually went down, but if you just go by the story, it's a really common occurrence. Someone leaves a line from their party to get something, and then tries to come back. I mean, how many times have all of us been in line when someone who got left behind tries to worm their way up a line saying they need to get to their people?
I've been thinking the same thing. What happened after the patron rejoining the line was initially denied passing through? Did they eventually get through? Were they able to sit with their party in the theater? Were words exchanged? Where does this fit in "We don't appreciate you guys pushing my younger sister,"? Was the group wearing matching outfits just that day? The whole trip? Do they have multiple outfits? Does the 6 year old whose birthday they are celebrating enjoy the matching outfits or are they embarrassed by them? So many questions.
Based on what we are told in the story it seems like an over-reaction on the part of both parties.
People can be ridiculous there. Some burly dude hit me with his double stroller, twice, as I followed Simon through the funnel to board the ferry. Mind you, it's not really a queue, it's more of a coral. Then his Karen wife started shouting about how I was cutting in line. I admit, this is a trigger situation for me, when entitled people are assholes to other people, and I'm thankful that my kid reminded me that this was not a reason to be stressed. And hilariously, the cast has us take a side entry up to the then-new upper deck stairs, way ahead of these idiots.
And the stores I could tell you about entitlement on the Disney Wish maiden voyage...

I haven't been to Disney in quite a while, but visiting nowadays sounds extremely stressful. Add the rising expense of the trip, the long lines, the classism of paying to cut in line, the heat and humidity, and I can see how people could get so irritated that this might happen.

I struggle with comprehending getting into a fight over this, no matter how hot or crowded it is. Throwing a punch at someone must not be in my nature.
I don’t think it was about actual placement in line because yeah, but on the way back to her spot someone in the other party felt a shove or two followed by the usual harsh accusations then it was on.

Outside of premium virtual queue options, none of those are new when it comes to Disney. It’s only stressful if you let it cause stress.

Same here. I can't imagine a situation where throwing a punch at somone would even cross my mind. Even if someone hit me, in this day and age, I feel like my only thought would be to remove myself from the situation as fast as I could. Even if it made me look like a you know what.

Enh. I think all of those are incrementally worse than they were, say, 10 years ago. Ticket prices and room prices have outpaced inflation significantly, there are more "pay-to-play" options ranging from Genie+ to the super exclusive VIP tours and Galactic Starcruiser and they are more visible, standby lines are generally longer, and the weather is worse, both average temp wise and hurricane wise (anecdotally). Social media based Disney snobbery is more popular than ever ("I'm so cool, I'm not even having fun right now"). Obviously, Disney's doing fine on the bottom line, so I don't think they have any reason to change, but I can understand how more people are turned off by the 2022 Disney offerings.

They woke up that morning and chose violence.
And Disney.
"Stay woke, go broke" or something.

Of everything involved here, the thing that bothers me the most is the phrase "electric conveyance vehicle."
And that if you're going to lose it, you ought to be dressed like Donald and not Minnie.

Those things are everywhere at WDW resort. They seem to come in pairs too. The evil part of me kept thinking "If you can't walk be on your feet all day maybe Disney isn't the best place to be."
Side note: On our trip to Busch Gardens a rider on an ECV grabbed a ride in the last row. She parked right next to the ride, not at the designated area. Her riding partner, who was clearly a novice, attempted to move the cart. Needless to say she almost backed the cart onto the track while taking a ride operator with her.
I have no problem with people using them. My dad used one until he became such as menace that we had to take it away from him. It's ... if it's a vehicle, it's for conveyance! You don't need that word! And the fact that it's electric is mostly irrelevant.
(Thanks to Google I have determined that this is what Disney calls them, and maybe it's a standard term, but we always called it a scooter. Motorized wheelchair if you must. Also, in the course of looking that up I have learned that Crocs are forbidden on escalators at Disney World.)

I had a friend and his wife on that cruise and they said the same thing. It was insane. Just the littlest things people were complaining about.
"You're on a ship at sea, just shut up and be happy" was his wife's response to one particular couple.

A bunch of assholes declared they would never sail on Disney again, which is absurd. We had a fantastic time, and it's exciting to have that ship at our home port. Trying to figure out when our next will be (depends on how fast my passport renewal comes back).
