Loopy Landscapes Review

Well I picked up a copy for 30 bucks at my local EB this morning about 10:30am. I have this love / hate thing for Chris Sawyer, I LOVE what he creates for us to play, but I HATE the STUPID, GOD DA_N WAY HE MAKES US PLAY. Again, like when CF came out I HATE scenarios. I just want to design and build parks. I dont want to try to get 2349875287 people in the park by Oct 3 year 4 and so on and so on. So now I have to wait for the real creators to come out with the cheats. Techno gets all the credit for making RCT fun in my opinion. I know some of you enjoy the scenarios and that is fine and you can enjy the game as is. But for the other people like me, SCREW Chris Sawyer and stop trying to piss half of the RCT fans off !!! Again, I guess he doesnt care, why? Because I went and bought my copy and he still made the cash. But he can still put in a "just build" mode in the game and then EVERYONE could be happy, have the scenarios for people who do like them and have the "just build" for people like me. I will take it off of my computer and put back CF with the cheats and not reinstall it until Techno makes me happy again.
Overall I give the game a C-, why? Because it deserves and A + IF you could just build, but sense if FORCES you to play senarios it drops in rating.
Chris, WHY did you do this to some RCT fans yet again? Why didn't you listen to some of the fans when CF came out? Did you do this JUST to piss us off again? That is how I see it anyway... Again, put in BOTH, scenarios AND a build mode and everyone will be happy.
I guess I will go play Ultracoaster instead.

A+. I picked a copy up for 30 bucks just like you, and it is everything I expected it to be and more (no Intamin box track:( ). In the Alton Towers scenerio, you can borrow $1000 dolars and your loan only increases $1 each time, so if you want lots of money to just build, add all the money you can ($50,000) and then demolish all of the rides, clear all of the land, close the park, and start fresh with about $100,000. That's the best answer I can give you.

P.S. Is Michigan the only state that it was pre-released in ???

Ok, I found the lte trainer, 1.7
Now I dont see what it does though? I hit F12 to bring it up, but didnt seem to do anything.

Yeah, when I first had it, I freaked because I thought it didn't work.

First, open the little square box that says "beans" at the bottom. Then start the game. Now, you can open it in the opening screen with the people walking around or when you're in the game by pressing F12.
CoAsTeRDaN: If you don't like scenarios, why did you buy LL? Chris Sawyer made it clear that LL would have only scenarios a couple of weeks ago.

Coaster Dan quitchabichen,

I am soo sorry but the game success was not because of the trainer, its because you have so many coaster people out there, and comercial advertisment. I mean look at when the demo came out. It lasted for 15 minutes, people found trainers and played as long as they wanted. Another demo was released and gave 30 minutes of game play but fixed the trainer problem. No one had a fit about it. Trainers are fun yeah, but don't diss the man that made this game just because you cannot get an easy way out of a bored. If you didn't want more sanarios then you shouldn't have gotten the game. Enough said

Well I kind of agree with Jephry here. Yes, the techno trainers add a whole other dimension to the game. They make it possible to build any coaster you can think of, with any kind of scenery, and that's awsome, they greatly help the game. But, despite it's name, RollerCoaster Tycoon is about the succesfull managing of an amusement park, in all kinds of hard situations. Maybe they should've changed the name, but there you have it. 1 other thing too, I plyed RCT straight for like 3 months with only eating and sleeping on the side, with just playing the scenarios, no cheats. And although the cheats can keep you going for a while, the original lure of the game is much better. I have never gotten tired of rct since last thanksgiving, and that's because of the wonderfull array of different parks and the strategy that goes into winning them.
Yes, the trainers are great, and so is the side of rct of building rides just to build them. But that is simply not what the game is about and it may never be.

RCT has it's problems, but it's the best game in the world and I love Chris Sawyer for it!

LOL! there SFGA.....yeah I agree that it will always have a special place in my heart. Unless the rumored RCT 2 comes out in a couple of years, no game will beat the original.

I bought it today, and I'll say more about it when I've spent more time with it. Anyway, if Dan doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. No need to jump all over him for it.

So far I'm completely overwhelmed by the game's new theme options. The possibilities just go on and on.

Personally, I like scenarios, because the different forms of land force you to be creative. None of the goals are hard to achieve, but I admit they can be time consuming.

Now, about a "sandbox mode..." don't be so sure there isn't one in the game. The Arid Heights scenario, available right out of the box, covers most of the map, has no money, and after six years, the research just keeps on bringing out new stuff.

Waiting to see that Thrust Air... ;)

Agreed with Jeff -- the "no money" scenarios are pretty close to sandbox mode. Yes, you still have existing land to deal with, but that's not a big deal with an unlimited budget...

Well, after letting it go in to year six last night while I did other things, it has nearly every ride researched. The only new thing I haven't seen yet is that S&S beauty. Anyone let it go longer?

OKay I meant to jump on the dude and the thing is, he is jumping on the creator because he fixed the game so people couldn't cheat. He also dissed him by saying, "Screw Chris Sawyer" and things like that. I think he deserves to get jumped on. To say he doesn't like the game fine but to be saying things about other people is something else

This here is straight from the "horses mouth", no offesnse to Mr. Sawyer. This was from an interview done a few months ago by GameCenter. I think it speaks for itself.

"I believe a game has to have rules to make it a game. Take away the rules and you've got nothing--a bit like a chess game where you can move any piece any way you want to. However, the rules can change, and I'm sure fans of RollerCoaster Tycoon will find that some of the new scenarios in the Loopy Landscapes pack will satisfy their requirements!"

Everyone on these forums of course is entitled to their opinion and expressing that opinion, I'm sure that's why they're here. I believe however, that it's unessicary to express it in such a way that you have to piss off half the people here, and diss a man like Chris Sawyer. Nothin' personal CoasterDan, but untill you make a game better than his you can't diss him in front of all us RCT fans and expect not to be yelled at by everyone here.

yeah yeah yeah, scenarios-are there any NEW coaster designs or rides???
I am with CoasterDan. I only completed 5 scenarios from the first 2 editions. I wait for a trainer to come out (Techno, whoever he/she is a pure genius). I build my mega parks and have a dandy old time. It seems Sawyer wants to reject our imaginations on some of the scenarios.

I have a park with the Thrust Air, ArrowBATic, and the Hydro-coaster if anyone wants to take a peak at them. I was somewhat dissapointed at the fact that there is a VERY minimal choice of elements for the TA2K, and that the ArrowBATic has no inversions. Otherwise, it's great. If you want the park(s), send me an e-mail at Loopiekid@aol.com

P.S. Sorry about the parks not being the greatest, but the best and biggest park isn't one of my prioritys as of now.
