Looks Like Bad News For SFMM Regarding X

http://www.screamscape.com is reporting the following:

Park News - (10/5/01) While I realy don’t want to go into the mechanical details, sources have contacted Screamscape and informed us that there are some major “issues” that have come up regarding the trains for X. Lets just say that the added weight from the load tests have revealed some flaws and there are things that need to be strengthened or redesigned before it can open to the public. We’ve also heard there may be some issues with friction and longevity of the wheels. A source who claims to know the details tells us not to expect this to be open until later this year at the earliest.

Between Superman, Deja Vu, and now this, Magic Mountain can't seem to open rides when promised.  Regardless of the designers, this does not help with their PR problems.

Who saw this coming raise your hand. Oh well, X isn't gonna open, my pass expires, the end. Well I'm not gonna complain.

dont worry they will get it working they always do
Hmm. This might be the only 4th Dimensional Coaster ever built if the other two are withdrawn because of this, but if not, then there will always be three of these. Just like the G.I.B. coasters, no park is going to touch such a mechanical nightmare of a prototype. The same with S:TE & ToT. They are the only two of their kind in the world because (1) They costed in the range of $18-$25 to build (2) They require high maintenance (3) Electricity for the LSM motors are needed at a great amount [Edison International dedicated a private electricity feed just to feed S:TE's power consumption]
Never touch a mechanical nightmare? Arrow has sold many mechanical nightmares. Remeber The Bat? That thing was a nightmare, and with redesign, a few years later XLR8 debuted and worked. If there is a major problem, Arrow will fix it.
I live in Phoenix, AZ. It is a 6hr drive to Magic Mountain. I renewed my season pass entirely based upon the announcement of X. Otherwise, I was going to take some eastbound parks in (Which I also did anyway). Planned 3 trips to Magic Mountain. One in Spring, to actually renew the pass(we were planning on stopping by SFWoA on out east trip, so we wanted to get the pass before our trip in MAY). Hoping Deja Vu might be open by then, as it was EARLY spring. Two other trips in August and September, well after the LATE spring proposal and still no X. Even if it DOES open sometime this year, I am not sure I can make another trip out there. I've used ALL my vacation days already. I will be petitioning SFMM to renew my pass for next year free of charge.

well if al else fails they can bust out the plasma cutter and take off the 3rd and 4th rails and call their fiends at B&M for some dutchman trains.... lol just kidding. this dosent sound good even though I'll never ride one of these unless one makes it to an east coast park I hope they can get it running good with out having to build somethign entirly new like they did with the bat.

How about just tear it out, and get a new 3-coaster contract with B&M or CCI. Anyone else like my idea. X is taking too long. Arrow is starting to suck. And i'm starting to wish Arrow never thought up of the 4D coaster concept. B&M would do it right.

Why don't you just relax!  There are no 3-coaster contracts with companies either.

Yawn... kids...

Look, there are far more important things going on in the world than whether a stupid rollercoaster opens late or not. Let's keep our priorities straight.

And then Jerry said, "Take care of yourselves, and each other".

Okay, who cares when it opens, as long as they get it to work right. People should really stop bashing coaster companies, if you feel it's a little bad, then just say that and give a few explanations on why, it makes you look a little more sophisticated. Also, many of you that are bashing this ride right now are probably going to want to pay money to ride it when it does open sooner or later.

I'm sure they are trying theyr'e best to resolve any and every problem with this coaster!  I can imagine the disappointment in this but, that old saying It's better to be safe than sorry!  I respect any creative minds of designers for any thought process they have in creating these things.

For my west coast friends.......BE KOOL I'M SURE X WILL ARRIVE!

-----------------
"Lookout" it's NITROGIRL!!!

This is the exact same thing that happened with DeJa Vu it seems if they test it too long to make it safe people hate it.  What is wrong with you people, they are testing it for your safety, not everything can be found out about a coaster until its actully built and testing especially with new types of coasters like X.  It looks to be a awesome ride and I hate to see people talk bad about it, they never have announced a opening date yet so how could you say that its opening late.  Just wait it will open and it will be awesome. Be patient
-----------------
From the way the ride "looks" I can see that there might have been some sort of problems with the design.. I mean, having the weight on the sides like that through motions just seems "odd" for it to hold up...

...but yet, you would think they would take this into consideration and a designer wouldn't "mess up" as badly as that... so I can't see how something could come out that bad...

They did build a proto-type and it worked right.
Just as long as X is open next year in June when the American Coaster Enthusiasts have their annual CoasterCon.
Last night, here on coasterbuzz, there was a post by Trackmaster, saying he was an employee of Arrow and went into a well-written and detailed description of all the problems X is having and the financial problems Arrow Dynamics is in.  The whole thread has been subsequently deleted (presumeably by Jeff).  One has to wonder if this was at the request of Arrow and Trackmaster may have violated a non-disclosure agreement.  Who knows, but it's pretty shady when a post gets deleted, especially one with the sensitive information it contained.  I feel it lends more creedence to the fact that it was true, why else would it be deleted? (no smarta** comments from mods, please) We'll be lucky to see X open this year....

Isn't it strange that Screamscape calls their news sections "News and Rumors". Where's the different sections? I wonder what category this thing would place in. I wonder who their source is.

This Trackmaster person was very strange, I checked his info and that name was created just yesterday and only made 4 posts. Maybe he was the real deal, or maybe he just knew his stuff and decided to pull a prank, it's awfully hard to figure that out with no proof.
