LoCoSuMo a ACE coaster classic?

Is the The Lost Coaster of Superstition a ACE classic? It has no head rest, it has no indivual lap ar, so does it qualify?

Are the seats divided or individual bucket seats? Or is it one continuous bench seat with no dividers? Do the ride ops assign seating, or are riders allowed to pick where they want to sit? Those are a couple of the qualifications for the ACE standard too.

Also, I'm not sure, but I think the netting that is installed over LoCoSuMo's cars would disqualify it from "Coaster Classic" status.

why has this netting stuff been added to the cars? they were looking so nice! are there any pictures around of the cars with the netting on?
I haven't actually seen the netting myself, but people have reported in TR's that the netting was added to prevent people from reaching their hands out of the cars, because the space between the track and the walls is minimal.
Heres a picture of the seats. http://www.lonestarthrills.com/scripts/photogallery.php?photogallery_id=2266

It looks like it can be an ACE Coaster Classic from the picture. I don't think they will let the pole in the middle of the seat disqualify it. Unless this ride have indviual seat belts.

i haven't ridden the ride, but I would assume that the netting is to prevent people from putting there hands up. I would guess that there are some pretty extreme head/hand choppers on the ride and IB is just playing it safe. Can anyone confirm this, or am I way off?

Those nets are gross and intrusive.

Can it be an ACE Coaster Classic if it has an elevator lift?
Wow, that netting really looks like crap, when somebody first mentioned it, I thought it would be some kind of Canopy or something, that would look much better!

Oh, come on now...it's not really that bad. I rode it yesterday and I had no problems with it. If anything, I think it adds to the theme. And, don't forget, it's for safety...it's not like they had a lot of time to re-work the trains with a brand new looking canopy, they had to do something fast, which was the netting. It might just be temporary until they can work out the height problems throughout the mountain.

You're partially right. If you've seen some pictures, you'd see some tight squeezes through places. If someone stuck their arms out to the side or just rested their arm outside of the train, they'd be at serious risk of injuring their hands/arms.

For it to be a classic, I would imagine that it would need to be more than a few weeks old. ;)

I don't see a problem with the nets. I'm noticing that the only people to complain about them are those who have not been on the ride. Believe me, people ARE that stupid as to put their hands out of the car to see what they can hit.

That would be really phucked up if LoCoSuMo was an "Ace Classic" but the 40+ year old Blue Streak @ CP isnt and the biggest travesty Wild One (SFA) at 85 is not a classic.

Yet another reason I put no faith in the so-called "ACE Coaster Classic" status

your track record doesn't say that you've been on the ride. i find it amazing that you can make such a strong statement without ever going on the ride. when you ride it you don't even hardly notice the nets. i suggest that you experience the ride before judging it.

No, it must have a standard chain lift to qualify to be an ACE coaster classic. Also, since this ride went through major renovations.. the changes made would cause it not to be a classic anyways..

Since I have ridden it, I'll try to answer some questions. You can sit wherever you want, at least when I rode it. But there are only four benches, so it's not like a whole lot of variety. The seats are benches with no dividers (if it did have dividers it would be virtually impossible for all but the smallest of people to sit on the far side of the train). There are individual seat belts that are the only real restraints. There are handbars in the center oft he car. The netting can be annoying, but it in no way interferred with my ride. You can see through it fine and it is necessary as the ride exists today. There are several places where you could easily touch the ceiling or wall of the mountain. I even think a tree branch could be touched if not for the netting. But in the end, I don't think this ride can be considered an ACE coaster classic. It's not even a month old yet.

I take it the ride was open early in the day then? I went to IB yesterday for the evening session and was disappointed to see it down from approximately 4 PM CST to close...any word on whether it opened back up today or what the story was yesterday afternoon?
