Nearly 75 locals turned out for a meeting that sprouted a 3-2 vote against the Stratosphere Hotel's new coaster plans.
Lawyers from the hotel will again try to make their case for the project when it goes before the City Council for final approval on Oct. 17.

That leaves other issues as well such as the look and affect it would have. It would not hurt property value. That I can say formally being in the business. If these houses that are 3 blocks away, expensive and feel this would damage the value, then they have a right to fight. This basically is the same as the government trying to come in and build that "secret military base" right behind you. These people feel it is going to affect their homes and are fighting it. But if you sit back and cut on them for fighting, you had better not care when they come to build something by you.
P.S. irondraggon, i do not see how they are "pathetic". They fight for what they believe in, as we do when we say we are enthusiasts. I guess that makes us pathetic too because we fight for things we believe too huh? *** This post was edited by DragonCyrs on 9/9/2001. ***
As for the project itself,I really feel it isn't over by a long shot. It'll more likely reappear on a ballot somewhere down the line.
