Local CP enthusiasts conquer 100 laps on Gemini

Posted | Contributed by Hooper

The Gemini 100 crew of Cedar Pointers successfully did 100 laps on the the ride in one operating day without the aide of the park. The Date: Monday June 11, 10 a.m. to 10p.m. The rules: See if you can ride Gemini 100 times in one day. Dan, Anne, Natalie, Jo, Jeffery Spartan, Rob, Sam, Matt and myself (Matt) conquered the Gemini by riding our 100th ride with five minutes to spare before closing time. The general public and even the Gemini crew kept us going along the way. Breaks were limited to about 20 to 30 minutes total during the day.

Wow guys, that's great. I was there that day and I rode Gemini like 5 times. I can't beleive I didn't see you. But I do recall one the female ops saying something to somebody that they had been on it alot, but I didn't hear what she said and at the time, I didn't know you guys were doing it. Kudos to ya.

Hooper,

No rerides? Well, then I really give you guys credit then! I've been on that ride the two times I've been out at the point, but I don't remember how far it is between the exit of the ride and back to the enterance.

I know the times I had to get off and get back on the Eagle it was quite the hike! Round trip at Eagle (from exit of train to back on, no line) would be about 1 to 2 minutes, assuming people did not get in the way. So with no rerides, I can understand that you guys would be really out of breath each time you got back on to ride!

Great Job again guys! Anyone in the Chi-town area interested in going for 100 on Eagle?

I had a blast, it was so much fun, Jeff I wish you were there. My feet were sore becuase I forgot my shoes at home and had to wear sandles.

It was a great day and I am still shocked that we actualy did it, it hasn't sunk in yet.

100 laps is a big feat.I have only been on Gemini once but I plan to go on it again...and again. They deserve a lot of credit for doing that.I know I couldnt.

Los Angeles Lakers rule!!!!!!!!!!! 3-1 series lead over the stupid 76ers.Shaq-Kobe clan wont stop. They are gonna bring it TILL THE END!!!!!
To anyone planning on trying a 100 ride on ANYTHING.. some hints..

#1.. don't do it.. hehehe
#2.. don't go contacting local media for a park event WITHOUT the park knowing about it. Media showing up for something like this unannounced tends to upset park officials..
#3.. pick a ride with GOOD capacity.. I don't think it could be done on Villain myself.. and the reason's why...

only 3 train cpacity.. vs. 6 train on Gemini..
4000 feet of track vs. 3935 on Gemini (I know it's only a small amount but take that into account with the # of trains and you see the problem)
Lines.. again.. this is a capacity issue
and finally.. all those times they miss interval dispatch because there's no one at the entrance doign height checks... they have everyone buckled in.. and suddenly decide to measure some kid (don't laugh.. saw it happen on 4 rides 9 times 2 weeks ago there)

We also did this on a 12 hour park day.. granted we could have waited for later in the season with 14 hour days.. but then the crowds are just too long and kill capacity..

MF 2000 - 269 laps
MF 2001 - Double digits already and it's only the second day of the season... :)

Wow! 100 times is unreal. I once did 55 rides on Gemini 10 years ago and people thought that was a lot. Congratulations Gemini 100 !!
Now the big question is.... How many times did your train win!?! *** This post was edited by RaginBull217 on 7/9/2001. ***
