Local CP enthusiasts conquer 100 laps on Gemini

Posted | Contributed by Hooper

The Gemini 100 crew of Cedar Pointers successfully did 100 laps on the the ride in one operating day without the aide of the park. The Date: Monday June 11, 10 a.m. to 10p.m. The rules: See if you can ride Gemini 100 times in one day. Dan, Anne, Natalie, Jo, Jeffery Spartan, Rob, Sam, Matt and myself (Matt) conquered the Gemini by riding our 100th ride with five minutes to spare before closing time. The general public and even the Gemini crew kept us going along the way. Breaks were limited to about 20 to 30 minutes total during the day.

I give them a lot of credit, I didn't think they'd be able to do it, especially without any official sanctioning by the park. Good for them. That's a real record.

Congratulations!!! Man, I don't think I could do that. Way to go!!! Gemini Is the best!
Hey guys! I was there that day! I'm sorry I missed you, I only caught the ride once.
Great ! all Po!nters should be proud of you for SEIZING THE DAY ! Again Congratulations !
Thanks Jeff.. Wish you could have been there to see us.. We had some ride ops stop by (even ones who came back to the point early from going home) just to see us and cheer us on (Thanks Danielle.. I love you dear)..
It was one of those things I'll tell my grandchildren about...

MF 2001 - Double digits already and it's only the second day of the season... :)
How did it feel to ride one of the best coasters in the park, IMO, all day?

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
That is great!!!!!!!!
How did you manage to ride it 100 times in 1 day that is so cool!!!!!!

Good Job! :)
People took breaks? Wimps ;)

The Cool thing was the amazing pace everyone was on for the last couple of hours. Getting on, off, and back on again real fast made for 5 minute laps. Dan and I figured at one point we need 22 in 2/1/2 hours to get 100, which we thought would be close.Shivering Tim said at the pace we were on at that time, 26 would be the number we coud get in. The crew was great though at ran things SO smoothly through the day. This was while some where still 5-7 laps behind. You guys really hustled in the end. Great Job!

I wanna do a Gemini 150 in July :) I felt great after the end of the day, so great I rode Gemini more the next day :). *** This post was edited by Joe E. on 6/13/2001. ***
Great Job to the folks that did this!

One question: I know at SFGAm they sometimes allow you to stay on the ride if no one is in your line and ride again. Does CP have that rule also? (It's not really an official rule at SFGAm...it depends on the ride, the ride ops, crowds, etc).

I know I've done all day rides on Eagle at SFGAm, and they allow you to stay on if no one is in your row. The most I've ever had is 64. So, kudos do you guys for getting 100! :-)

By the way, how did you all feel afterwards?

Brian, No rerides were not given to us. We got off and ran back around each time. That was what took alot of energy out of us. (Or me anyway). Actually late at night the Gemini crew let magnum is sinking (GTTP screen name, sorry forgot your real name) have a reride. It was his 98th and the crew let him stay in for his 99th. A awesome Gemini crew it was too!!! And there were a few people I forgot to mention that completed this. I couldn't remember their names, for example Joe E. and magnum is sinking. Sorry.

I can't say enough about the crew.. Amy and her crew were SO supportive the whole day. Even to the point of announcing to the general public that we were doing it (like when we were in the 80's I think everyone was really starting to feel it) to get us going.

I did get the crew who showed up at the bar that night drinks for all thier help and I'm currently working on something for them as a token of appreciation for all they did for us..

Special thanks to Sabrina for pushing me and not being upset that night when all I wanted to do was get a drink and sleep... Love ya hon...

I said it at GTTP, and I'll say it here: way to go, guys! Next time, I won't bring anyone with me, and I'll play with you. I did have a blast, though. If nothing else, it was a lot of fun watching you guys getting off, running around, and just looking completely beat (ala hooper!)!
Great job, i wish i woulda went...im gonna attempt to get 100 laps on villain pretty soon.

Joey...i'm ready for it. I know we've been talking about it, so let's pick a day that should be slow, and we'll get some people to go with us. So, who here is up for a villain 100?
i know a guy who works for the local news out here and could cover it, too :)
let's get ready to do it.

That's really awesome! I want to go on Hurler at PKD that many times! I might get a headache though!;-) Someone wanna try Son Of Beast? hehe...

I don't love roller coasters...I'm obsessed with them. BGW and PKD baby! *** This post was edited by ApolloAndVolcano on 6/13/2001. ***
Unless you got help from the park, a Villain 100 would not be possible. The lines are far too long. The Gemini 100 was possible because the ride is almost always a walk on!

Anyways, great job guys!

Thats so cool I cant wait to break a record of riding a coaster as many times as i want. My parents say im crazy but it seems so cool. Hey at they didnt boo you guys!!:)
I'd like to say great job on that great feat. and for SFGAm ive been able to stay on raging bull for 5 laps but it all depends on the ride ops lines and the other two people that come sit in the car your in.
