Liseberg has new coaster in store for 2002

Liseberg, a very nice and good park located in Sweden has announced their third coaster. It'll open for the 2003 season and will be built by Intamin.

It's Swedish, but check out the 3D renderings on the official site.

It is also rumoured to be a hyper-woodie :)
Nope not a hyper, but almost.  It's 196 feet tall and around 6,600 feet long.  Talk about a qaudruple out back or as we know INTIMAN TWISTER here we come!
Think about it, there are plenty of Speed coasters that just almost make hyper our look to be one(Steel Eel,Colossus,Titan(Japan),Bandit, Alpengiest), but there still aren't.  Plus where talking about an Intiman woodie here!  After riding White Cyclone, the most beautiful woodie in the world, I am in love with Intiman woodies.  Can't wait for the real thing.  Just hope dad gets a buisness trip to Sweden, though I highly doubt it. *** This post was edited by Acrophobia on 11/9/2001. ***
Intamin new wooden track design looks like it is mostly steel, the supports are still wood though. Also the trains are so simliar to their steel hypercoaster trains, it seems like there would not be much of a difference in ride quality between the Intamin's hyper woodies or steel. am i right in my assessment of the the hyperwoodies, that the ride experience is akin to the steel counterpart?
-----------------
Intiman has never made a hyper woodie.  This one is 196 feet tall and Colossus is 190 feet tall.  Sorry but Great American Coaster Inc.'s Son of Beast is the only true hyper woodie so far.
It's not a hyper-woodie, the stats are right there:

- "Total hojd," which I assume is height, is only 36 meters. That's 118 feet.
- "Ralslangd," which I assume is length, is only 1070 meters. That's around 3500 feet.
- "Maxhastighet," which I assume is top speed, is only 90 km/h. That's 56 mph.

Not that it matters. It looks like it will be one heck of a ride. I count at least 10 hills that have the potential for airtime!

Did anyone else notice in the lower right-hand corner of the second picture what appears to be another new ride? Looks like a Huss Frisbee to me.

Don't you find it strange that we are hearing about 2003 coasters in Europe, and still haven't heard from certain parks in the US regarding their 2002 coasters? Ahem? ;)

"I'll bet that thing hits 5 Gs going through that loop.....faaar ooouut!"
Intiman has already released a layout/visual of the ride and news to the press stating that it indeed is 196 feet tall(60 meters).

Here check it out for yourself

Also,ColumbusCoaster, what you misinterpreted was that the coaster largest drop is 36 meters, which is also proven by the 3D pics and the layout that the coaster is indeed tall but the first drop does not go to the ground.

Ahh, I stand corrected. (I guess I'm a little rusty on my Swedish :)) So that means that the bottom of the first drop is over 70 feet off of the ground. Strange.

Well the hight of theis woodie is a little bit confusing. On their announcement they say Total höjd, wich means total hight, 36m. But the president of Liseberg told the press it would be 60m high. So i'm not so sure about the height, but it'll be great anyway, finally a woodie in Sweden :)

Liseberg are also selling their Invertigo, wich is a shame, me and my sister really like Hangover. :( *** This post was edited by olov on 11/9/2001. ***

Another great coaster for Europe! We're finally starting to catch up with you guys over the water!

News, Reviews, History and Records of the world's roller coasters!
Uhm also when i submitted this news, did i wrote 2002? I don't remeber but could you change that to 2003? The construction will take awhile since they first have to rip out some houses and then build the coaster.
If you look at either photo you can tell that the first drop is atleast 50 or so feet of the ground.  Also, it looks like the press release says the first drop is 40 meters(131 ft), can someone check up on that.  Since Swedish is one of the most confusing languages, it kind of hard to interpret.

Europe's starting a new golden age!  This year they've announced(2002+2003):

1.Colossus(10 inversion record breaker)

2.Silver Star(Hyper from the best, B&M)

3.Air(First B&M flyer)

4.Rock 'n' Roller Coaster(remake of original one at Disneyworld)

5.Batman(B&M's original inverted finally hits Europe)

6.Superman(Probably the best floorless we've seen yet)

7.Odessey(World's first hyper inverted)

8.Wild Wild West(Intiman woodie thats twisted)

9.Winjas(Dueling spinning coaster)

10.And now Baldar(yet another great Intiman woodie)

Well now Europe's finally back in the buisness, but is the USA gonna' sit back an watch or we making a BIG comeback?  We'll just have to wait and see.....

If you count right Europe has already anounced 20 coasters for 2002. Although half of then are kiddies/family(+1 Venkoma head banger and tamed down of Vampire), but 20 is still a big number!

That doesn't make Intiman, but Intamin...And all your information is EXTREMELY false !

Colossos (Heide-Park) is a 200ft. woodie. With a 191ft. drop. Balder will be a 125ft. woodie !!!

Belgian, the thing is, the president of Liseberg said it was 60m high... but the drop doesn't go to the ground. I think we'll have to wait till we see how high it is, or till the park can answer my post, wich they never does.
Belgian, Intiman, the park site, along with 12 other site I check all state that Colossos is 60 meters(196.8 feet to be exact) tall.  And Intamin list it as a wooden speed coaster not a hyper.  Nothing can change the fact that Colossos is 3 0r 4 feet shy of being a hyper.  Plus, no one knows the exact height of Baldar yet.  Two primary sources both have something different.  AND if Baldar is only 125 feet tall, and the first drop is WELL of the ground then the first drop would be less than 100 feet.  Also, all my stats are not wrong, everyone of those coasters have been announced, and most have started to rise.
Acro, who rally cares if Colossus or even Baldar are a few feet from a hyper? Colossus has an out and back layout similar to an hyper and with that height provides the same sensations as any hyper. so IMO it is considered a hyper. Plus B&M calls their hypers "Speed" coasters, yet everyone categorizes them as hypers. I think the same should be done for Intamin's "wooden speed" coasters.
