Lighting Rod Update?

This just in: there is a 99.9% chance that Disney hates poor people.

I'd say theres at least a 75% chance Disney hates poor people. Maybe not 99%.

I'd say there's a 100% chance this statistic is false.

If anyone is looking for a "Lighting Rod Update", I would suggest Home Depot or Lowes.

I saw on FB a prediction of this Saturday...I think that's probably VERY optimistic...

But I booked my flights anyway!

And I have heard they had humans on it for a minute yesterday, so they're looking at tomorrow, maybe even today as a sort of soft opening.
I'm like an expectant mother with a packed bag by the door at all times. So excuse me, I have to get in my truck now.

I will be there 2 weeks from today to ride it.:)

15 minutes ago, IOE posted to their Facebook page a 3am "celebration" picture from Lightning Rod....their piece is completed.

Starting to look like we're on the home stretch....

edit: And now....drumroll please....

Lightning Rod has soft-opened to the public.

Is this rumor Adele's version or Bananarama's?

Here's a video from today

Hard to believe this thread isn't getting more action....can NOT wait to get to TN. It *will* happen sometime this year...

The play I'm in doesn't run Monday thru Wednesday. So, I'm thinking I just might jump in the truck Monday morning, hopefully get there before the park closes, go on Tuesday, get lots and lots of rides on LR, then home Wednesday.

I'm hoping if I do go it's not a waste of two/three tanks of gas...

And why NTG on the list of coaster that would be better slower? I don't feel like that ride is too intense at any point and I'm kind of a wuss.

IDK, it just feels like it takes the elements a little too fast. I've gotten slightly nauseous after back to back rides on more than one occasion. That's probably more due to engineering than speed though. But full disclosure, I'm probably a bigger wuss than you.

To be completely honest, while I do feel that NTG could stand to be slowed a tiny bit, I mostly included it in my examples so as to have a RMC example (relevant to Lightning Rod discussion) and not just all Intamins, which all seem to be badly engineered of late. (remember, Iron Rattler is my favorite of the 4 RMC's I've been on, so that should say something.)

As for that video a few posts above, yeah, it looks fast, but faster than the computer animated POV? Hard to say.

The early ride reviews all seem to be coming in very positive, and the coaster really looks fun. I think some people - myself included - are tempering their enthusiasm because the ride:

  1. still isn't officially open to the public
  2. has soft opened to some, but it seems as though getting a ride right now is still a bit of a crapshoot
  3. is only running one train
  4. had numerous little delays for those waiting for their rides

I truly hope that this ride becomes reliable with time, but I haven't seen anything yet to make me believe that will be the case. RMC coasters are really finicky rides for some reason.

Just left the park today -- there were signs posted everywhere that it was still in "technical ride rehearsal" and unfortunately closed for the entirety of today.

Everything else was a walk-on or 3-5 train wait.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

It sure has a lot of gas leftover at the end.
