Lesourdville OFFICIALLY no longer a amusement park

Never ridden the Sea Dragon? I'd ride it all the time just because it's the clone of my very first coaster, the Hunt's Pier Flyer.

Shame on you for not wearing OSU colors that day...

Rob, if it will make you happy, here goes...

What a stupid idea... what a waste of time and money... parks are businesses... they're in existence to make money, not cater to enthusiasts... it's all about the stockholders... stop trying to hold back progress... if people cared about that park and that coaster, there'd be companies lined up for sponsorships... money wasted on trying to save old wooden coasters could be better spent developing 600'-high-launched-floorless-water coasters with 27 inversions that go 147 mph...

Did I miss any cliches?

Wait, I thought the new and cool thing to do was to be an "indie" enthusiast and support parks adding small, eccentric additions and to roll your eyes in all your elitist glory when someone mentions the "600'-high-launched-floorless-water coasters with 27 inversions that go 147 mph". ;)
I agree with Danny. While I would like to go to Cedar Point and ride Millineum Force, Magnum XL-200 and Raptor, my heart is with the more intimate parks. They have something that the big corporate parks lack.

Which parks am I talking about? Knoebels, Holiday World, Waldameer, Indiana Beach, Beech Bend, etc. This also includes the Kennywood Entertainment and Hershend parks which are corporate in some ways but never lost touch with their roots. Such parks have an atmosphere that set them apart along with a feeling that the owners want to do more than just get your money.

I think you hit all the nails on the head, RGB.

I was under the assumption that the latest enthusiast "trend" was to act like you have no interest in being an enthusiast. You know, the kind of person that doesn't talk coasters with their friends, talk coasters while at amusement parks and thinks there are better things to be doing that riding coasters yet spends a ton of time on enthusiasts sites anyway.

Must be out of the loop, I s'pose.

^Hahahaha, sooo true!

"I'm enthusiastic about dissing enthusiasts"... :)

Seriously though, SOMEONE needs to pick up Eagle, and SOON...even if it takes 2 years or more to re-build it (Leonard Adams has a full plate right now, LOL), then you're still getting something that's both nostalgic as anything *and* (more importnatly?) cheaper than new...and with Eagle, a *phenomenal* ride to boot.... ;)

How about we petition Kennywood? The only Miller ride they lack is a standard out-and-back... and a Flying Turns, but Knoebels already has that covered!

Screechin Eagle would be great at Delgrossos, but I'd like it closer to me
According to RCDB, we're down to single digits for operating John Millers, and for SBNOs, and we know some of them will never open again. If worst comes to worst for the Eagle, at least under Couch we did get one last year to enjoy it.
I live 15 seconds away from LeSourdsville Lake and would be happy to take pictures if people are interested in seeing in. Of course I wont be able to get close but I can get some distant shots very easily. I dont have a website so if somebody would be able to post them for me I will email them to you after I upload them onto my computer. If interested let me know.
Screechin Eagle would not be a good addition for Kennywood but might be worth considering for Idlewild. Kennywood already has three wooden coasters and hasn't had a good place to put another one in the past. Now the park is acquiring more land and a new wooden coaster is a distinct possibility 4 or 5 years from now. If this is done, look for the park to go all out and build a cutting edge woodie such as Boulder Dash or Voyage. It will almost certainly use the terrain in its design and could have a price in the 7 to 10 million range in current dollars.

Idlewild could use a classic such as the Eagle since the park has room for it and such a ride would be a better fit since it is not as intense as some of the newer woodies. Cost would be another consideration favoring this since the park has smaller attendance than Kennywood. I did send a message to Kennywood regarding the Conneaut Lake Blue Streak which would be a good addition to Idlewild if Conneaut is unable to survive. In any event, Idlewild would be a good place for a mid-sized classic style coaster.

Theres several parks the Eagle could find a good home at.

Delgrossos
Cincy Coney
WIld West World
Steamboat springs
Quassy
Idlewild
Even Lake Compounce

Im missing many a park here and some do have the means and resorces, others may not

Chuck

I don't see Lake Compounce adding another full-sized wooden coaster anytime soon. They already have two such rides and that is plenty for a park with its current attendance level. If the park adds anything over the next several years, I would expect it to be a mouse or a junior woody similar to Idlewild's Rollo Coaster or maybe a mid-sized steel coaster to replace Zoomerang.

Crap! This is horrible news. Sell off the junk coaster, but deny interested parties in saving a one-of-a-kind classic woodie from the 20's. This just makes me sick.

HEY! I resemble that remark! ;)

This is sad. Another park I'll never get to.
Kennywood has classics, why not add Screechin' to their line up.

I really don't care where it goes, as long as it gets a home. It deserves someone who's going to give it the TLC it deserves.

Much LOVE to the Eagle!

<---who misses the Pippin, too. What is HAPPENING to my favorite woodies? >:-(

Perhaps he wants to hang on to the major rides in hopes that he can refurbish them later with profit from the campground?

I'm just hoping...

I've been there twice but it closed before my kids were tall enough to ride. Will they ever get the chance?

Please do not get out of your doom-buggy!
Doubtful, although I don't have better explanations for what the guy is doing by not putting the Eagle up for sale. Is it possible he wants the amusement park to remain a (closed) amusement park so he can write the place off as a loss?
