Lesourdville OFFICIALLY no longer a amusement park

I'm really liking that Mayflower idea.

Maybe Knoebels gould pick up a ride or two from this park. They are really good at salvaging rides from defunct parks. in particular, I'd like to see them restore the Calypso. This is another of those classic flats that are becoming increasingly rare. I remember when Kennywood had one. It was beautiful but was partially damaged in the big fire that occurred around 1970. As for the SE, either Wyandot Lake or Coney Island would a good place for it since they both lack a full sized woodie. Idlewild would be another possibility. Strickers Grove and Camden, given their size, don't really need another wooden coaster at this point but either of them might find use for some of the flats or kiddie rides.

Aside from the Columbus Zoo and Stricker's, what other local operations could be a possibility?
Coney Island, Memphis Kiddy Park, Beech Bend
I'm still thinking Coney could be a possibility. I know the park has flirted with the idea for a wood coaster for a while now. How much space could that ride consume? Couldn't it theoretically be built behind the pool due to its shape?
Kiddieland in Melrose Park Ill closes. Joyland in Wichita KS closes. Knoebels buys both the Little Dipper (Kiddieland) and Roller Coaster (Joyland), relocates them near the Phoenix, and changes the name of the park to "Schmeck Land".

I then wake up and then discover it was only a dream...

EDIT: OOOPS!!!! I had just read the post in the news section on Joyland in Wichita and was thinking about Roller Coaster, then I read this post about Lesourdesville and Screechin' Eagle... and I kind of got my endangered coasters confused. Of course, the above post can be expanded...

Knoebels buys Little Dipper, Roller Coaster and Screechin' Eagle, an relocates them near Phoenix and Twister and renames the park "Penn's WOODs".

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"
But what a dream!
The article requires registering but here are some quotes that make me think Eagle is in serious jeopardy of being lost.

He won't sell Eagle but he won't maintain it??????????????????????????????? WTH?

But he will not sell permanent structures such as the Screechin’ Eagle of the flume ride. And, Couch said he also does not want to part with the merry-go-round.

He estimated it would take $5 million to purchase the park, Simply to get the Screechin’ Eagle rolling would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, he said.

RIP Screechin Eagle, RIP

As I mentioned elsewhere on the web, I don't get the guy. He invested a ton of money to get the park back up and running for what amounted to little more than a half season. He's not going to make that money back by letting the park sit and rot so why not take one of the offers he supposedly received and at least get some kind of compensation?

The guy sounds as though he's at odds with himself.

No, the guy is about making the potential money he wanted the property for in the first place.

He did want all three, The camperland and camping and the Amusement park. He lost over 500,000 with Pugh as a operater. He's unwilling to take the chance and pricing the property too high for those who would solely because he has a money making plan.

It's gone, done, Other than saving the eagle and getting the rides sold to where people could enjoy them somwhere else is left.

And of course a save the Eagle campaign.

Sounds about the time we need to put together a Save the Eagle campaign... if for no other reason than to inspire a bunch of posts by people that see no reason for doing that ;)

Save the Eagle! Save the Eagle!

Maybe I'll start a "move the Eagle to Columbus" campaign. ;)
Nah, no one aside from you (and maybe Rideman) wants that ;) The only thing noteworthy about Columbus is that the Yankee's AAA (the Clippers) play there!
And they'll soon be playing in fancy new corporate-named stadium.

And if the Eagle comes here, then there will be two noteworthy things about Columbus!

I didn't know they were getting a new stadium. Got a link or something?
Um, you guys are forgetting OSU football. That draws just a BIT more attention than the Clippers. :)

I'm all for moving the Eagle to C-bus. I've lived here 12 years and I haven't even ridden the Sea Dragon yet. I need an excuse to go to Wyandot Lake!

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
Thanks. Looks like a nice little ballpark.
Den: you should go to Wyandot's Oktoberfest, the price is cheap because the waterpark is closed, and there are so few people in the park that you can pretty much sit on Sea Dragon for a good hour without getting off. It's a nice little ride.

OSU football? That's the *downside* of living in Columbus. I'll never forget the first week I lived here and I got yelled at on the bus for not wearing the proper color the day before a game weekend. That's what inspired my "BUX SUK" license plate. ;)
